Back in August I was asked to write a short article around yoga/body movement and emotional regulation for the Holistic Parent Magazine. I found out it would be for the upcoming “Faces of Loss” issue. Later that month I was flattened by our own family trauma and I was struggling with this article and whether or not to write it. I sat down and allowed myself to really think about it. Being a mom who lost her first pregnancy to miscarriage I knew the pain of this experience. At the time I didn’t have the coping mechanisms that I do now. And then I realized that the few things that were getting me through the last couple months included my breath, simple yoga movements and grounding exercises. I knew I had to share a few of these techniques. When we are going through a difficult time sometimes we don’t have the energy to do a lot, so I shared a few ‘simple’ things that anyone can do, just to get through the day, the moment, that minute.
