2. The Batman
You may have not been expecting a movie like this to be on the list, but it’s here for a good reason. Batman is without a doubt one of the greatest modern crime drama movies out there. This reboot really explores the side of Batman that other movies were missing, his detective skills. People who are fans of the Batman comics will know that the character is depicted as the greatest detective in the world in addition to all of his high-tech and fighting skills. The thing about this movie is that a lot of people will get the misconception that it’s a kid’s movie when it’s definitely not! The film follows the story of Bruce Wayne on a mission to solve a string of murders of political figures in Gotham City, the murderer leaves riddles at the crime scene of every murder and Batman follows the trail on a mission to track down the killer and find a motive. On his journey, he uncovers a lot about his family’s past and the corruption of the city. Batman is a must-watch for fans of the iconic superhero and fans of crime dramas alike. This is why it’s without a doubt one of the best crime dramas to watch.
3. No Country for Old Men
This movie has been nominated for many awards, it’s one of the best crime dramas to watch if you haven’t seen it yet. There’s so much about no country for old men that makes it stand out so much from anything else, the fact that there is no music in the movie makes for some insanely intense moments. The movie is about a man from Texas named Llewellyn who one day stumbles across a drug deal gone wrong, upon inspecting the brutal crime scene further it becomes apparent that there were no survivors in the shootout. Things start to get crazy when he finds a suitcase loaded with cash but doesn’t yet know that there is a tracker on the suitcase. Soon Llewellyn finds himself being tracked down by a psychopath hitman who is tasked with retrieving the money. We would say it’s probably one of the most interesting depictions of a psychopath in cinema. The cat and mouse chase between the two are closely monitored by a sheriff who begins to realise that he is way out of his depth after visiting every crime scene.
