💊ARE BCAAs WORTH IT? 💊

There's a lot of supplements available today and some are better than others.
.
Some deserve their moment in the spotlight and can be quite beneficial when partnered with a good nutrition plan. .
Others...are kind of overhyped 🙃
.
I'm sure you've seen people sipping away on their neon coloured drinks during training sessions convinced that it will unlock their gains potential...
.
While BCAAs can offer some benefit in regards to muscle retention during fasted training or those on a low protein diet, for most of us they  probably aren't gonna do jack shit 👎
.
You see, if you are eating a good amount of protein (0.8-1g/lb of body weight) then you are  also probably getting a good amount of Leucine (The main amino acid in BCAAs that helps with what I mentioned above).
.
So if you do like to train fasted, go ahead and take BCAAs, although you're probably better off just using Leucine on it's own or HMB (metabolite of Leucine).
.
And if you don't even train fasted, and you get a good amount of protein from a range of sources...then you should probably save your money as BCAAs aren't likely to do anything for you 💸💰

So this is me, overweight and over it. Having been somewhat of a chubbs most of my life, and by somewhat I mean total. I lost about 4 stone a few years back and began to finally feel happy and confident in my own skin. Skip forward to today and following the arrival of my gorgeous baby daughter (I know I am biased but she is sodding beautiful) I have gained all that weight back, so I am going to do something about it. I'm starting this account to document my journey, focus on positivity, follow inspiring people and hopefully engage with folks that are on a similar weight loss path. Oh and this journey will include lattes, I love me a latte.

Based off your perception, is my client Alexa on fire? Or is she on fire? [Don't actually answer that, we can all see the flames.] I have to say one of my favourite parts about coaching is witnessing the shift in energy/vibe with each check-in.
Often times, when a client starts working with me their e-mails are filled with negative self-talk, they're not confident in their appearance or performance, and they're just...well, unhappy.
Usually within 4 weeks, I will start to see a positive shift in energy.
If I took the e-mails from an entire duration of a working relationship and made them into a flip-book, it would literally be a complete spectrum of self-love.
Alexa is one of these people. Not too long ago, she did not like her physique. Actually, she really disliked it.
I'm sure most of you are thinking "shit, she looks amazing!" and I would agree, but the only perception that matters is hers. The only perception that matters when it comes to self-love, is your own.
No amount of compliments can coax you into loving who you are or what you look like.
So how do we do it? Well, I can tell you that I don't focus on trying to get a client to love their physique.
What I do focus on, is helping a client to love who they are as a human being, and they will end up loving their physique as a consequence. They might still have changes they'd like to make to their physique, but they will love and appreciate it for allowing them to walk up stairs, play baseball with their friends, and do a backflip off a diving board.
You can love your body, and still want to make changes to it. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.
So, how do I work on allowing people to love themselves? Through effective use of language.
Anytime a client beats themselves up over something, I will praise them for doing that very thing. "I went over my calories by 400 while camping with my family this weekend, and I'm pretty down about it. I hate when I fail to stick to the plan because I'm wasting my time and yours." Instead of saying, "Dang, that sucks! If you don't commit to the plan you will never reach your goals." Continued below⬇️

My breakfast this morning. And yes you are seeing that right, I’m having two small Reese’s. I don’t feel one ounce of regret or shame either. Why? Because this is not going to destroy my diet. I enjoy food and I’m not going to make myself miserable by not enjoying food/candy I like. What I am not going to do is eat a whole bunch of them. But I am learning to enjoy things like this in small quantities. It’s all about balance and letting yourself breathe.

Honestly, my weight loss journey has been a spiritual blessing. I’ve struggled, cheated, and had victories. Weight loss is not an easy task. What motivated me was my ability to remain focused and seeing results. I started with the DASH diet, which is your average American standard diet. At first I wasn’t too sure on how to eat “right.” But, the DASH diet worked for me the first 43 pounds. However, I still had tummy fat. I wanted to amp up my diet and I wanted to eat cleaner. Luckily, I came across the keto zone diet & been seeing great results ever since. This shows how healthy eating is a LIFESTYLE! It’s not something that should be accomplished and learned within a time frame. Give yourself time. PATIENCE & CONSISTENCY is 🔑‼️💯 Always have the “there’s always room for improvement” mindset. From experience, it’s not about your workout regimen, it’s about DIET! My results came from what I ATE 🍃🥑🥓🥦🌶🍳🧀 So if you’re one of those who ask “what workouts do you do?” You really should be asking “what do you eat?” This page is a work in progress, but I’ve done a lot of trial and error during my weight loss and I want to share my findings with everyone! Some tips: get emotional. Personalize your journey. READ.LEARN. Become organized. Wake up earlier. Splurge. Enjoy the process. Most importantly, TRUST the process. More will come stay tuned 🧘🏻‍♀️😁
