This was supposed to be Face to Face Friday but I'm a day late 😄
2 stone difference in these pictures and feel so much better for it. Gone from a size 22/24 to 18/20 as well. After spending the day and evening celebrating my amazing wife’s birthday, I thought I would share some simple tips with people that are on a strict nutrition plan but also want to enjoy themselves from time to time.

At the moment I have just finished the 1st stage of improving my gut health, which was working towards killing off specific bacterial overgrowths (mentioned in previous posts). We are now focusing on rebuilding the gut lining and increasing its permeability for the next few months. This of course means avoiding any foods that could cause any upset to my digestion and overall gut health. The biggest culprit for me personally is gluten, it always wreaks havoc on my digestion, mood and scale weight.

So, to prevent this is pretty simple, avoid sensitive foods at all costs and stick to foods you know sit ok with you which in my case was sweet potato fries, a high-quality burger without the bun (gluten) and mixed vegetables. I will admit I did share some dessert with the wife after but again I know my dairy tolerance is ok as long as I don’t have too much.

To actually plan and fit this into your nutrition/macro plan is also doable. Yesterday was a training day for me which means I have 5 meals a day and luckily a percentage of my carbohydrate timing is with dinner. So, to make sure I’m as close to my calories as can be, I missed out my last two meals of the day and counted my meal out as one large meal. I also only drank still water, so no calories from liquids were added. °
The last thing I always make sure I do is take my usual supplements with me in a little pot (yes you will look a little strange) along with some extra digestive aids since my food volume will be more than I am used to in one serving.

Sticking to a strict nutrition plan is very time consuming and can definitely affect your relationship with people close to you (trust me!). So, it’s very important to always find time to be a bit more ‘normal’ from time to time and spend time talking about other things going on in each other’s life beside training and food.
