1. Clean your face properly
This is the first and basic step in any skin care routine. Every next product you apply on your face will not make sense if you do not clean your face well first. Not only will it not work as intended but it can cause you big problems. How is it possible? Facial cleansing involves removing the dirt that has accumulated on your face during the day. This is necessary so that you do not clog the pores. Since clogging can only occur due to a combination of dead skin cells and sebum, the extra dirt can only cause major inflammation. Then subcutaneous inflammation occurs which can be very painful until they reach the surface of the skin.
Remember that one pimple needs up to 8 weeks before it comes to the surface. This means that with the wrong cleaning you can get big problems that you may only be aware of after a while. So, do not skip this step, especially if you have problem skin and oily skin. Some people wash only in the evening, while in the morning they use plain water. This is the wrong approach, because you can’t clean your face with water alone. Appropriate facial cleansers are used for this purpose.
2. Determine the skin type
If you are not sure what type of skin you have, do a test or go to a dermatologist who will confirm it. To determine your own skin type, wash your face and let it dry naturally. Do not put anything on it and after half an hour you will notice symptoms. For example, people who have oily skin will notice an excess of sebum that they can feel with their hand. People who have dry skin will feel mild discomfort and tightness, while people with combination skin will feel tightness only on certain parts of the face. Normal-skin is velvety, with no acne and even in color. Although this test will show you your skin type, you must also determine its condition.
3. Determine the condition of the skin
In that case, your skin may be sensitive, dehydrated, acne-prone, prone to allergies or look old. How do I know my skin condition? If your skin is sensitive, it means that it reacts to external conditions such as the sun, wind, but also to certain cosmetic preparations. Dehydrated skin can occur in all types because it lacks moisture. Even oily skin can be dehydrated and that is why we need to determine the condition of the skin so as not to make wrong decisions. Old skin does not have to be related to age, because other factors are genetics and lifestyle. We can positively influence each of these conditions. People with sensitive skin should choose products that protect from natural conditions, but also change their lifestyle.
Those with dehydrated skin should take in more water in the body, but also use hydrant preparations. In order to suppress allergic reactions, you need to find allergens that irritate you and avoid them. We must not forget about the diseased skin conditions. Some people have conditions that are not curable. Such conditions should be monitored and treated with appropriate therapies. The most common diseases are dermatitis, psoriasis, infections, etc. It is important to take these phenomena, because acne can be a consequence of wrong treatment of the disease. So do a skin swab and do not ignore the symptoms such as itching, tingling, etc. Before doing skin swab, here you can try to see the difference between fungal acne and closed comedones.
4. Use an appropriate facial cleanser
It is not enough to just use any facial cleanser. You will only notice its effect if you decide on the right product. Since you can find a large number of similar products on the market, we are sure that you can get confused and decide on the wrong one. First, each skin may react differently to the same product even though the skin condition is the same. However, there are a few guidelines that will lead you to the right product. The first thing you need to determine is your skin type. When you do that, look for ingredients that will suit your skin. Regardless of the skin type, our advice is to choose a product in the morning routine that has a lot of moisturizers and other nourishing ingredients. Since you only remove leftover products from your evening routine in the morning, you won’t have to use an overly aggressive product. Otherwise, they would dry out the skin unnecessarily. In the evening routine, however, you should use something stronger, because after the day your skin is full of dirt, sebum, etc. If you have applied make-up, trained, applied SPF, a mild wash will not be able to clean the skin well. In that situation, use something stronger.
5. Use the DC method
When we talk about facial cleansing, we must not forget the DC or double cleansing method. Oil cleaners are used for this purpose. All impurities will stick to the product and dissolve. How is the DC method performed? So, choose an oil cleaner that has a non-comedogenic composition. Apply a little oil on the face and massage it for about 20 seconds. Then wet your palms with water and run them over your face to make an emulsion. You will notice that the oil gets a different texture and turns white, which means that an emulsion has occurred.
Continue to run your hands over your face for another 20 seconds and remove product residue using a suitable facial cleanser. This way you will rinse the pores well which means you will prevent forehead acne and pimples. People who have oily and problematic skin can use this method every day, even though they have not used SPF or applied makeup before. The reason is excessive secretion of sebum, which can additionally contaminate the skin.
6. Use a moisturizer
No matter what skin type you have, it is very important to opt for a good moisturizer. You will also choose it based on your skin type. For example, people with oily skin should use moisturizing fluids, not heavy creams. Such products will contain panthenol and other soothing ingredients, but they will not contain shea butter and the like, which can only clog pores. In the second case, dry skin just likes creams with a rich composition, provided that they are not comedogenic. Keep in mind that comedones can be the result of dehydrated skin. So do not always solve pimples by drying the whole face, but first take care of hydration. If, after well-established hydration, you still have a problem with outbursts, deal with them in particular.
7. Use face acids
Lastly, we must not forget about the acids that will make the most significant changes on your face and keep the outbreaks of pimples under control. Of course, you can’t choose these products either if you don’t know your skin type and condition. However, with regular use of acids, you conduct a deep cleansing of the skin and penetrate deeper into its parts. In this way, you will remove all the dirt on the surface and prevent the formation of new inflammations. The most effective acids for blackheads, comedones are AHA, BHA, while retinol is the best option for wrinkles and acne. Don’t forget to put on SPF, because it is a particularly important part of the skin care routine if you use acids.
Conclusion:
So, your skin will look beautiful only if you clean and hydrate it properly. You can use different methods and products for this purpose.
