  •   68yvette Is that a whip, I hope not :( 4mon
  •   kjaesmart It's an over and under. More or less a whip but not for pain purposes. Horses skin is very thick, especially on their rump area. When you "whip" a horse to make it run harder, it definitely is not ment for pain. In a natural environment, when a stallion is moving his herd, if there is a horse that's falling behind, he will run behind the slower horse and nip it on the rump to encourage it to run faster. The whip simulates the stallions nip to move faster. We practice holding animal husbandry to the upmost importance. Without our horses trusting us and loving us, winning wouldn't mean anything to me, it's a team effort, us and our horses. Animal husbandry is incredibly important in the barrel racing industry. If anyone is caught, seen or even suspected abusing an animal, there are serious consequences. We love our equine partners as out own children :) 4mon
