Wow, out of the park new import from the wonder that is @ordinairewine - Gorgeous dried lillies & that herbal weedy grass we chewed on as FL beach kids hiding in the light, dry muscat and glou glou Syrah?! If the terroir weren't so French, I'd swear I was in the Sierra Foothills. Perfect bargains, all! #vinnaturel #pierredanoy #domaineamagat #roussillon #stainlesssteel #zerozero #00 #ØØ #yougetthepoint

Châteauneuf du Pape soil 🔝

32% Syrah and 68% of a mix of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Matured for 4 months in the barriques. I would give it 6 to 12 months to sort itself out before drinking it. But that said, this is a fantastic wine for early enjoyment. The texture is beefed up by a good amount of solid extract and the tannic structure of Syrah is leading the course beautifully here. This is a wine that calls for a grilled meat dinner. I’d love a case of Insoglio in my cellar and revisit it across the next 6 years.
Il Pino di Biserno (we like to call it ‘Baby Biserno’ or ‘Little Bolgheri’) is a blend of 50% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot, and 20% of a mix of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. 12-month maturation in barriques. The wine pops right out with its incense and spice bouquet that leads into equally striking blue and red fruit notes. Nice oak integration there. The tannins are grippy and fine, young but not aggressive.
No Lodovico tonight but a bottle of Biserno to end the evening ain’t too shabby. The Biserno blend contains noticeably more non-Cabernet Franc grapes than Lodovico. While Lodovico is heading towards being a varietal wine, Biserno will remain as a Cabernet Franc-Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon-Petit Verdot blend in the foreseeable future (as we were told). 🗒🍷 Flavors of pencil shaving, dark chocolate, coffee bean, and plum. Silky and plush in the mouth. 👍🏼Excellent wine but somewhat a “just another”. What I appreciate is its current drinkability and its clear aging potential. I’d expect to start seeing its peak performance in about 7-8 years.

Here’s a tour around Tomac’s facilities. As the largest family-run winery in Plešivica, Croatia, it might surprise some people that Tomac produces only ~50,000 bottles every year. 70% of the production is sparkling wine made in méthode traditionelle. So a riddling machine is definitely appreciated here. All fermentation and maturation are done in big oak casks and buried amphorae. 🗒New report on @tomacwinery will be posted on exoticwinetravel.com soon.🍾 Follow us for all the deets and treats.

The evolution of @tomacwinery’s wine label. From a period right after the Yugoslavian era in the early 90s to the present.
