When you read this what do you relate it to? Your house? The place or country you live in? Perhaps your partner?
But I wonder...
Do you relate this to your body?
Your body is your home. Your continuity. As long as your heart beats you live. Your body is working 24/7 to keep you alive and functioning.
Your body is your home.
Your body is working tirelessly to care for you, always.
But it’s easy to forgot this, it’s easy to take for granted because our body has always been there for us. It’s always had our back.
We can get caught up in picking it apart, prodding the bits we don’t like, moaning about it, feeling frustrated at what we are not yet strong/fit/old enough to do.
But can you take a moment today to focus on your body?On all the Incredible things it enables you to do? From swimming in the sea to hugging a friend. From skydiving out of a plane to running to catch that train. From walking in the countryside to listening to music.
Can you take a moment to send some gratitude it’s way? Even THANK IT. Yes that’s right, say thank you to your body?

Chapter 1... an introduction. Going back to the first chapter in preparation for proof reading I am reminded of a vipassana meditation I completed last year. Those who have experienced these remarkable 10 days of silence will remember well the words of Goenka “start again... start again”

So - i find myself at that moment again. Memories in the cells of my body recalling starting again is not the same as starting from the beginning.

Yesterday I said No!

Maybe not a big deal to some but for me, the ultimate people pleaser this was huge. I have a pretty rough time saying no to people. I hate feeling like I am letting people down and in the past have spread myself thin as a result.

Since I lost my job back in November after 17 years of loyal hard work, I have revaluated my priorities. I intend to my put my health and my sanity first. I lost sleep about the thought of saying no to a friend, and also saying no to a stranger who wanted me to do some work for them. I didn't need the extra stress while I am rebuilding my own life. So, after realising how crazy it was stressing out over saying no - I did it. I said thanks but no thanks and it felt good.

Having a chronic condition is a full time job, getting through each day unscathed is a challenge and a delicate balancing act of pacing and determining our limitations on any given day. So, our priorities should always be us.

To put ourself first should be an act of self preservation and not a guilt trip.

Just because something says it’s healthy, or it’s in the gluten free or vegan section, does not mean it is!! Sometimes even prepared veg has unhealthy oils and flavourings added to it.
It’s common knowledge that ‘low-fat’ or ‘fat-free’ foods often have oodles of sugar and other nasty, processed additives in them but it can be the same for gluten-free and vegan foods. .
- Try to cook from scratch whenever possible. Cooking in bulk saves time too 👌🏼
- Check the label for any added sugar or chemicals - Try and pick foods that don’t need an Ingredients list at all!

What is better than avocado toast? Avocado toast with smoked salmon of course! 😋❤️🥑 It’s one of my favourite breakfasts, brunches, lunches well just about any meal really!
But for me it has to be on organic sourdough (preferably homemade) with a drizzle of cold pressed olive oil, fresh lemon juice a grind of Himalayan pink sea salt, and slices of fiery fresh chilli. Then I add my avocado, sliced, smashed or puréed it’s got to be a good quality fruit and not over ripe. Finally I top with slices of salmon. The best quality that my budget affords. Et voila a heavenly meal. Of course it’s even better when you share with friends and loved ones.
