I am extremely thankful for all of the loving people in my life, and for the ability to take a pic and look funny while doing a plank 😊 I was able to complete my first timed mile in over six months, which made me feel super good considering I wasn't able to complete a lap when I was severely ill. Anyways, happy thanksgiving day, and check out the workout I did below and give it a try! Keep grinding! 👊💪

Happy Thanksgiving to all!🦃 Today consisted of trotting like a turkey, making ugly {but tasty!} pumpkin pancakes, enjoying a meal with friends, and counting our many blessings ❤️

I had a really hard time coming around and posting this, but its a part of my journey & reality. The first photo is from today, the second on from the end of August just before my emergency colonoscopy (I weighed a whopping 87.5 pounds), the third from just about a year ago when I started getting sick, & the last from a year and a half ago after getting back from Europe.
A lot of people always ask "are you getting better?" and I always have mixed feelings with this question. My answer is yes and no. Am I doing better than I was in August? Yes physically we are getting there, but am I better than I was a year ago? No, quite the opposite. •
This disease has taken a lot from me. I don't like taking pictures of myself now and often find sometimes I don't even recognise the person I am anymore. I look at pictures and can tell where my highs and lows have been in my journey. I look at old photos and feel a slight ache because I have come so far from that girl in the last photo and I don't think I'll ever quite be her again, physically or mentally. I was forced to change, I was forced to accept this is just how it is now, and forced to carry forward whether I was ready or not. Life doesn't stop. I don't feel confident, I don't always feel pretty, I don't always feel strong, and I don't always feel like me. Sometimes I honestly feel like a stranger has stepped into my body. •
But you don't see that with invisible illnesses. In every one of these photos I'm smiling. I have posted some of these photos before and have been complimented and praised. Told how pretty I am, how happy I look. But it's just a photo, there's always a bigger story. Especially in the first and second one where I feel like again we're hitting a low. •
To anyone with an #invisibleillness, know you aren't alone and you are visible. Someone knows what it's like even if they can't see it. And just because people can't see your pain doesn't mean it's not real. Are you getting better? Yes and no, because every day is a little different and that's just part of our lives ❤

💮Well the temperature here has cooled down a bit. Still a little ‘mushiatsui’ as they say in Japan, meaning some humidity is still in the air. 💮I bought some papaya yesterday as I thought it was time to incorporate it more into my diet with the weather moving rapidly towards summer. Here I have some papaya with a little fresh pomegranate juice and arils, coconut yogurt, a dash of lemon and mint.
In Chinese medicine Papaya lubricates the lungs, treats cough, kills intestinal worms, increases milk production in lactating women, heal skin lesions, soothes indigestion and stomachache, and alleviates irritability brought on by warm weather. 💮Papaya has an abundance of antioxidants. Vit A, C, E help prevent cholesterol from oxidizing and clogging arteries (atherosclerosis), a risk of heart attack and stroke. Vitamin A & C are particular helpful in maintaining a healthy immune system function. Vitamin A has been found to maintain healthy lungs therefore in turn treats emphysema & Lung cancer. Gargling papaya juice can be helpful in treating tonsillitis. 💮Papaya is most famous for its protein-digesting enzymes like chymopapain and papain. These enzymes calms inflammatory conditions, such as arthritis, asthma, promotes strong digestion and keeps the intestines clean. It is rich with free-radical-fighting phytonutrient lycopene which has been proven to prevent prostate cancer. In addition, it is excellent for our skin and can be used topically to help wounds. The folate in papaya can also help prevent anemia. This is a wonder fruit for someone like myself who has ulcerative colitis. Its inflammatory calming effects, the cleaning of the intestines, the soothing of the digestive system and the stomachaches and aiding with anemia aspects are simply out of this world. So don’t forget to grab yourself a Papaya or two the next time you see some at your local shops. 😉 #papaya #papayajuice #vegan #pomegranatejuice #pomegranate #coconutyogurt #lemon #veganbreakfast #antioxidant #amankoradietarytherapy #chymopapain #papain #ulcerativecolitis #anemia #digestion #stomach #spleen #tcmdietarytherapy #antiinflammatory #chinesemedicinestudent #tcm #traditionalchinesemedicine

So much of this!!! I’ve been selected to be the facilitator of a new support group in Central Oregon for CCFA and have been doing research and training about how to best bring people together. It’s important that people feel valued, not judged, and appreciated for their story. So many people are shamed for taking medications. However, you never know what natural remedies and other options they may have already tried. Believe me, I’ve tried myself. When we stop judging people for their choices and start embracing them for their strength and courage, we begin to build a community. We’re all fighting invisible battles.
Sneak peak of some awesome stuff happening soon! Thanks to my amazing cousin @alexkormann12 (check out his work) and talented photographer for helping me with a special project♥️😊 and shoutout to my sweet cousin for capturing the behind the scenes 📸: @maggiekormann 😘 #beautifullymade #insideandout #ileostomy #stealthbelt #ostomyfitness #ostomybag #ostomyfashion #ostomates #photography #family #thanksgiving #blogger #bandsupport #surgery #UC #Ulcerativecolitis

I apologise for the lack of food posts recently, is having a newborn a good enough excuse? 😬
I’m either grabbing snacks one handed or relying on other people to take pity and cook for me at the moment haha!
Well today I went to my mums and she did take pity, and had made me one of my favourites which probably looks really strange / basic to you, but is something i grew up eating and real comfort food!
It’s a Cornish dish called “taddy chod” and did indeed used to be what peasant ate as it was cheap and hearty.
It’s basically potatoes and onions cooked slowly together with bacon and seasoning, topped with crispy bacon and of course you have to have bread on the side to mop up the juices!
Basic yes but oh so delicious 🤤 it always reminds me of my Nan and her amazing cooking, especially of traditional Cornish dishes ❤️
Sometimes the tastiest dishes can be from the most simple ingredients.

I am grateful for my health, which is improving every day. I am grateful for the coincidences along the way, that weren’t really coincidences, but signs from God, that I was on the right path. They showed me that even when we had surgical complications, and the hospital painted a grim picture, that we were doing the right thing, pushing forward with the plan for a j-pouch. I am grateful for the people, the family, friends, church, and nurses who were there each step of the way. They are the hands and feet of Christ. I am grateful for a bright future, and for knowing that I am well loved all the way.

Chronic illness is a weird thing. Spent 80% of the day barely able to move but managed to drag myself out to the gym to do an aerial arts class, 2 hours later, back home and everything hurts again. Nurses are finally trying to help me but currently have no answers for me, steriods help but not as much as they once did and they seem to just suck out my energy, apart from maybe 3 hours a day where they give me a sudden buzz. Getting out the house is always nice though, probably won't be able to move tomorrow.

I think that Thanksgiving can be hard when you have IBD. There is so much to be thankful for but at the same time your health isn’t on the list. I’ve realized that most people take there health for granted which is frustrating to me. That being said Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate with family which I love. Happy Thanksgiving!! Enjoy the day! •

I've finally figured out how to do a post work gym run 😂 Eating before work ends so that ya not hungry/feeling sick + wacking on the trainers as fast as you can seemed to do the trick!

8km later I've done 28km in three days and it feels so good 🎉🏃🏃🏃 I had a really healthy, productive day today although I think tomorrow might be a well needed rest day before the weekend 🍌🥑🍉🍍 #livingmybestlife #youdoyou #bbg #bbgnewbie #bbgcommunity #bbgweekthree #thisgirlcan #thisgirlcanrun #girlsthatrun #girlsthatrow #plantbased #dairyfree #girlgains #eattherainbow #healthateverysize #recovery #anorexiarecovery #ibd #ibdwarrior #ibdvisable #ulcerativecolitis #chronesdisease #eatittobeatit #beatana #edfree #running #ukrunchat
