Today is #WorldChildrensDay. Did you know children under age 15 made up nearly 7% of the new TB cases that were notified last year? Here, Maria, a 19-year-old in her 2nd year of treatment for multi-drug resistant TB, stands in a doorway holding her infant son in Ciniseuti, Moldova. Maria’s two-year-old daughter, who is also being treated for TB, stands in front of them. Health workers come to Maria's house each day to observe their treatment.

Ingat spaghetti ingat OREGANO? ============================ Semasa akak masih naive bab eo ni...oregano ni guna masa nak buat sos bolognese jer.. now OREGANO ni akak dah standby ke mana2 saja... bau dia mcmne? Sebijikkk mcm oregano McCORMICK tu la..tp lagi strong sebb dalam bentuk minyak pati... Pestime guna OREGANO ni masa Ally asyik batuk berkahak awal tahun hari tu... sapu neat kat tapak kaki and diffuse. Peristiwa diffuse oregano mmg tak boleh dilupakan...hahhaha...mmg menariks. Hanya gang minyak yg tau... :p
Sebab apa guna OREGANO utk kahak?
Being historically with asthmatic mom, budak2 ni kena extra pre caution. Sebab ada kemungkinan asthma pun berketurunan... so kita ikhtiar guard and shield anak2 dulu... inshallah.

“When I heard my diagnosis for the first time I was not afraid because I never really heard about tuberculosis in my life. During my stay in the hospital I’ve learned many things - I learned that it is a very dangerous disease; I learned that millions of people are dying because of it; and I learned that there is a stigma surrounding this disease. People, who are not infected, react aggressively; they blame or avoid communications with those sick with tuberculosis. As a result, sick people are afraid to speak out - they hide or lie about what is actually happening to them. In my personal experience my doctor told me not to say I have tuberculosis to anybody, otherwise I will be branded for life. I think this is the main reason why humanity still cannot beat tuberculosis. As long as people are afraid to talk about it, the disease will continue to spread. I realised I want to fight it and the only weapon I am able to use is art.” Russian artist @Paulina_Siniatkina made a series of artworks during her months of #tuberculosis treatment in a Moscow #TB clinic. This is her story.

Interesting case of right eye panuveitis in a 55 year old man who initially presented with cough, weight loss, night sweats and rigors. No risk factors for TB but TB quantiferon was positive.
He went on to have treatment for TB and his systemic symptoms improved.
He later went on to have bilateral eye pain, worse on the right and was asked for an Ophthalmology review to look for any TB medication related problems.

He was found to have a pan uveitis and required steroid treatment. His TB medication was switched and his symptoms got better and steroid therapy was initiated with medical input for the uveitis (TB + steroids can be = bad news). The patient went on to have extensive investigations and found to have a mediastinal mass which was biopsied and showed a non necrotising granuloma (consistent with sarcoid). Ultimately the diagnosis was uncertain. The patient continues to improve on anti TB meds + steroid.

The pictures show a subtle enhancement of the retrobulbar optic nerve and intraretinal cystic changes. It highlights how interesting the pathogenesis of sarcoid and TB and how they are interlinked. (Although I think it was sarcoid all along 😝). #ophthalmologydoctor #ophthalmology #eyes #opticnerve #eyedoc #TB #tuberculosis #sarcoid #eye #neuroophthalmology #neurology #eyedoctor #optometrist #optometry #medicine #retina #surgery #doctor #medicalschool

Millions of voices; A united effort!
Montage declares a war on TB.

Millions of voices; A united effort! Montage declares a war on TB.

The Student Council President of Jesus and Mary College, Raavi Jotwani, leads the team Montage to associate with the Government of Delhi in a war against Tuberculosis. As a part of the annual social awareness campaign supported by Montage'18, Raavi Jotwani along with an organising team member, Manvi Ransom, recently deliberated with the Delhi Government Health Minister, Mr. Satyendra Jain over the alarming rates at which Tuberculosis, a communicable disease, can spread through something as trivial as spitting and littering. In the prestigious meeting held at the Delhi Secretariat, they brought to light the urgent need of action and awareness right from the grassroots to urban metropolitan areas. With an aim to eradicate spitting in public places and make the locals aware of ways to counter the spread of TB, the efforts of JMC girls succeeded in having the Government of Delhi on board to collaborate for the cause. Together in this social campaign, war on TB, JMC seeks to make India spit-free and hence, disease free and healthy.

A tuberculin skin test (also called a Mantoux tuberculin test) is done to see if you have ever been exposed to tuberculosis (TB). The test is done by putting a small amount of TB protein (antigens) under the top layer of skin on the inner forearm.
