My client had dreamed of being in Mexico for Dia de Los Muertes since her teen years. I arranged a trip to Merida, Mexico where she celebrated her birthday this year, making her dream come true! I’m sharing Marlaine’s message to me and pictures with permission:
Hi Shari, What a nice surprise to be greeted by the note you sent in the mail! Another care to detail on your part. Our trip went so smoothly! Everything you planned was exactly what we needed and more! The tour guides were all amazing and the places they brought us to were a little off the beaten track even though they were tourist spots. For example Edgar who guided us through the cenotes knew a large group was right behind us so he took us to the last cenotes first and we visited them backwards overlapping with the large group for a short period of time in the middle. When we entered the first on (which was the last one) it was so quiet and peaceful it felt like we were entering a different world.
The market tour guide (Gustavo) was sooo enthusiastic about his home city and shared stories of growing up there that gave such a personal insight. He was so proud and loving to his grandma who was there to supervise our cooking lesson. They truly welcomed us into their home. This was a real taste of their way of life.
The tour guide for Chichen Itza, Victor had participated in it's anthropological dig and knew the important aspects and contexts to share. He was a wonderful story teller. Going through the Maya land resort rather than the front gates was also perfect. I believe it was less crowded than had we gone the public way.
The transfer and flight went off without a hitch...the Cancun hotel we were in was at the end of the strip a little away from the crazy plus our room was upgrade the last night which was a real treat.
I would highly recommend you to anyone wanting a special and unique trip. I will definitely contact you for our next one!•
