🌍 “In fact by means of many shapes he often had obtained access to her and joyed in seeing her beauty.” With such words Ovid (Metamorphoses, XIV, 652-653) describes the scene painted by Pontormo in Leo X Hall’s lunette with Vertumno and Pomona’s story: for the column #mythinvilla, today we want to tell you about this episode. Vertumno fell in love with fruits’ goddess, but she didn’t want to love anyone and ran from him everytime they met. The god was able to change aspect, because he ruled seasons and therefore mutation; so, he began to transform himself into other people just to see her: a fisherman, a farmer, an old woman. As the latter, he could speak to her about the evil which happen to people who don’t love and he praised himself: in this way he could eventually win her over. 😍💑

Florence Tips
**Walk across the Arno from bridges other than the Ponte Vecchio. You'll see views like the one in the photo.
**Drink and hangout at Piazza Santo Spirito (@agirlwhoblooms for this tip). This is where the artists, students, and intellectuals go for evening bar hopping while avoiding tourist prices, long lines, and snobby doormen.
**Eat at the Mercato Centrale. When I went in October, I kept asking myself, "How come I didn't go here seven years ago?" Answer, because it wasn't built then lol. It is a great place to eat a variety of regional foods at reasonable prices. I particularly loved the pasta stand with in season black truffle pasta.
**Walk around the Gucci store. The Gucci store in Florence is the only one in the world selling some of the products sold there. You may not be buying but you can at least see one of a kind items made by the Italian design house.
If you have any tips on Florence you may not find in tour guides, share them in comments.
Ciao bella!
