Let's talk pricing, not just for my photos but other peoples photos (but let's mostly talk about my pricing). You go on my site you see a price and immediately make up your mind right then and there if you're going to buy it or not. Go ahead, try it right now, link is in my profile, go take a peak and then come back. The price doesn't represent a slight profit above the cost to print, matter fact that has little to do with how much I charge. The price I charge stems more from what happens before and after I press the shutter. First I have to go drive somewhere(gas), then I have to walk somewhere...sometimes close sometimes far just to start the process of grabbing the picture.(time). Take this beautiful picture for example, probaby in shorts hanging out on a beach taking this right? What if I told you it wasn't taken in the spring or summer, but it was dead of winter, and I had to walk through knee high snow that soaked through my pants, snow in my boats, toes on the verge of frostbite, teeth chattering, a runny nose drying on my face because the wind chills make it feel like it's 20 below. This is a 8 minute exposure, in the middle of February. Then I get to walk back through wintery conditions and stick my fingers in the vents of my truck just to dethaw them from frost so I can properly grip my steering wheel. Still have to go home, edit the picture and then finally post it. Only to get a handful of comments and even fewer likes, but that's ok.....because of someone really appreciates my work they will buy my work and not sit there and screen shot it, print it off your Epson printer in shit quality 😐. Selling that for $40 for a 16x20 is a steal. Because in reality the cost of gas, the cost of the lens and the camera which I don't dare mention because I love my mother and don't want her to have a heart attack knowing how much all this costs would make this picture worth a whole lot more. But I like sharing my work and like making other peoples walls look more lively in their home so I price at a fairly completive price point. This blurb sponsored by the ass who told me I charge to high.
