Making those changes.. smashing those goals! Always set an achievable goal which is within reach, too many times people set goals way too high. The last two days have been pretty rough so I’m going to start afresh today - I’ve treated myself to a bullet journal and some new snack ( #selfcare ) and I’m taking a break from high impact exercise to rest my foot and also to try and chill my digestive system 💜

It’s crazy to think how much you change your body through out years of consistency but also how much your perception of a “perfect body” changes💕

I compared these photos together and was going to do a “look how much I’ve grown in my years of training” transformation but decided to do something different🤔😂 sooo looking at these photos two points pop into my head that social media would label these as..
“Too small”
“Too big”
The reason I say this is because this type of trolling and stupid behaviour still happens on the daily & I’m so over it🙄 EVERYONES perception of YOUR body is going to be different.. some people think I’m too big, some people think I’m “just enough muscle” (someone messaged me that once😂), people at work think I’m too “skinny” and it goes on but you know what.. none of that matters🙅🏽‍♀️ because the only persons opinion that should matter is yours and you should never let people’s bullshit comments get the better of you👏🏽👏🏽 I’ve learnt that over the years those types of comments will always stay with you (wether it be a good or bad thing) but it’s up to you wether you want them to make a positive or negative effect on you✨🤗 Happy Tuesday!

Let’s talk exercise rotation...
There’s a common misconception that you have to change your entire training program every few weeks to ‘shock your body’ and progress, this is just not true 🙅🏻‍♀️
In fact it’s sometimes beneficial to keep exercises the same, particularly your compound lifts. This way you can track your volume and load and monitor whether you are actually progressing or not 🏋🏻‍♀️ & you know what you need to do each session in order to apply overload and progress. ☺️
You can increase volume over time through increasing sets/reps at a particular weight, you can improve your form and execution at a particular weight or increase weight on the bar! You can also use different methods such as increasing time under tension but the previous methods mentioned are probably the simplest to utilise ☺️

This can be particularly beneficial if you are relatively new to training and are a little more unsure of how much you can lift!

It is however a good idea to rotate/swap certain exercises out if you plateau with a particular lift or start to get niggles or injuries. Also if you hate an exercise so much that you avoid it every session it’s probably worth swapping it out! It’s so important to enjoy training to a certain extent...enjoyment will result in consistency 👌🏻

Woah I actually did something different with my hair, shame I can’t think of new poses 😂
Back smashed today, up to 75kg on my deadlifts. Starting to increase again now I’m happy with my form 🙌🏼 out for dinner tonight so expect a fooooood update later 🌚

From under-eating, depressed (don’t let the smile fool you) and such a bad negative body image
➡️ bouncing back & over-eating, happier but still struggling with mental health/body image
➡️ now, so much happier in myself & my body, finding the right balance in eating right & eating what I want! Still occasionally struggling with mental health but fighting through it!!

My body’s been on a journey but that journey is not finished yet!
Always fighting to be stronger (mentally & physically), better and happier!

It is possible to recover and change your body image, you can learn to love your body but it just takes a long time and a lot of effort! It’s so worth it though!

Good gym session, I now have two dog walks today which was meant to be my day off but that’s cool, shall be interesting to see how this week plans out because I wasn’t meant to have a walk now till Thursday but my Monday walk was cancelled and I’m doing that today and I got another one before that so I’m hoping Thursday will just have the one walk and I’ll get Wednesday off. Let’s see how this goes!!!

Juice Plus, Herbalife, meal preplacement shakes, detox teas, wraps, diet pills, ‘fat freezing’ belts, waist trainers... ARE ALL A LOAD OF CRAP!! PLEASE DON’T FALL FOR THIS STUFF, IT’S A WASTE OF MONEY!!! Want results? Eat a healthy diet and EXERCISE. There’s not short cut to ‘losing weight’ (fat), you just have to put in the hard work. If I see another Juice Plus ‘expert’ try and sell a ‘nutritional weight loss’ package, I’ll flip. OF COURSE you’ll lose weight from consuming these shakes, but that’s not because you’re eating in a calorie deficit, and probably a big one at that! Directly from their website, Juice Plus say.. ‘Complete by Juice Plus+ Shake provide you with organic proteins derived from soya, rice, and chickpeas, essential fats and carbohydrates – all in perfect balance. Hence you can replace a complete meal with just 220 calories!’ 220 CALORIES????? There are people out there substituting 2/3 meals a day with this shit, which mean they’ll probably only be eating ~660 calories a day. According to ‘‪healthline.com‬’, guideline calories (which I think are still a little low with exercise on top) to lose ‘weight’ for women is 1500 and 2000 for men, NOT 660 CALORIES!!! In the long run you could end up doing your body so much harm not eating properly, not to mention you’ll be missing out on so many key micronutrients. It baffles me why big celebrities like Kim Kardashian still promote these products - are they stupid enough to think they work? Or do they just think people are actually clueless enough to buy them so they can make more money? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Tuesday 🏋️‍♀️ started off with a 0.50k incline walk then did a 4.5k run and I felt ok considering I still don't feel 100%
Then I did a push session, chest and shoulders. Not trained chest properly in ages, felt good, finished off with an abs workout.
Can't feel my arms now, dreading doing my hair later 😂

All of the micronutrients for breakfast 😻 Scrambled eggs, mushroom, courgette, smoked ham, sandwich thins and salsa 👌🏻 Probably an unpopular opinion but I prefer scrambled eggs > poached.... does that make me less of a #fitnesschick 🤷🏼‍♀️ Today’s agenda is revise, train, revise and then my Dad is coming up to take me for dinner which is defo giving me something to look forward to today 🙌🏻 -

Morning sunshines 🌞
Starting the day with a @shona_vertue & @hannahrosecluley yoga flows, treating myself to matcha 🍵 & 30 mins reading this FASCINATING BOOK (I’m learning so much about the impact of lifestyle - environment, fitness, meditation, nutrition, relationships - on our cellular biology, and how this affects health and ageing!) as a treat for fiiiiiinally finishing the horrible calculations of weighted average cost of capital and such for my business finance LLM essays yesterday & completing my first draft!
Then it’s back to work as I’ve still got strategy to finish 🙃 but at least @rach_pidd & I have @corecollective tonight!

🌈 Hipthrusts (HEAVYYY bcos this is like the main compound move in this workout - I did 100kg 🕺🏻) 4 sets of 10 .
🌈 Sumo squats x10 superset with BW jumping squats x10 | 4 sets .
🌈 Sumo stance RDLs (never tried these before but 👍🏻) 4 sets of 10 .
🌈 Smith machine single stiff leg deadlift x8 per leg superset with SM good mornings x10 | 3 sets .
🌈 Bulgarian split squats x8 per leg superset with RB goblet squats w/ constant tension x12 | 3 sets .
🌈 Cable pullthroughs x10 superset with DB RDLs x12 | 3 sets .
