Here we are utilizing a cupping technique with movement to help @dbasist2 decrease muscle tone and decrease pain. Cupping therapy in conjunction with our manual techniques are used to improve circulation and help manage muscle tightness.

Band Resisted Eccentric Chin Up

Currently in the first week of an eccentric based block with @unhmenssoccer and we started off the week with some band resisted eccentric chin ups, trying to overload and really challenge them through the eccentric portion of the lift - plus they are kind of fun...

We aimed for ~5 seconds down for 3 sets of 4 reps, adding a rep each week for the next 3 weeks. Give a try and let me know what you think!

DISCONTINUOUS QUICK DROPS!⚡️Start off our plyometric training with this beginner movement!

Feet shoulder width apart in an athletic stance

Drive up in triple extension up on your toes and drop in athletic position

Cue athlete to hold position for two seconds then reset

Extended or very slow eccentrics are overlooked by most coaches. This method can be extremely beneficial for the novice or an athlete coming off a long competitive season. The beauty about this style of training is all you really need is the athlete’s bodyweight or a very light external load (dumbbell, medicine ball, plate, etc.). —
This will prepare the athlete for the upcoming high-intensive training. We use this method during our block 0 (introductory phase) or our tissue remodeling block (post-season).

The benefits include👇
🔹Refining motor patterns
🔹Neurological efficiency
🔹Improving deceleration & absorption abilities
🔹Tissue remodeling, body adapts & rebuilds a stronger structure

💥Execution💥
▪️Choose 3-5 foundational movement patterns (squat, hinge, push, row, pull, etc.)
▪️Start with bodyweight & then progress to very light loads
▪️Perform the eccentric with an extremely slow tempo (10-20 seconds)
▪️Make sure the slow tempo is smooth or constant speed (especially at weak points)
▪️Always complete the exercise in the concentric phase with an explosive action

If you come to the facility, you may find our athletes performing different crawling variations. Crawling allows us to get back to the roots of human movement; it's one of the first things you do as baby before you can walk.

Here, one of our Total Performance athletes demonstrates the leopard crawl, moving the opposite hand and foot at the same time. This increases core stability and the efficiency of the brain's connection to the muscle. All of which are essential in building top athletic performance.
