When it comes to losing weight, food QUANTITY trumps food QUALITY. You can eat 100% “healthy” foods all day long and struggle to lose weight if you’re eating too many calories.

But let me explain...

Just because food quantity (aka calories & portions) matters most for weight loss, it doesn’t mean food quality (aka vitamins & minerals) is irrelevant. Losing and maintaining a healthy body weight is one part of being healthy, but so is ensuring you’re strong plenty of nutrient-dense foods full of fiber & micronutrients 🍎🥗

So, what does all this mean?

It means you need to find a balance that works for YOU. -
The majority of your food choices come from micronutrient-dense whole foods. I usually recommend 80% as a general rule of thumb 👍

But if having a cup or two it ice cream 4-5 nights a week is going to help you stay consistent with your diet, then eat some freaking ice cream! -
Oh, and if you so, invite me over cuz I love a good ice cream social 🍨💁‍♂️

If you have obstacles available sub a rope climb, herc hoist, monkey bar/rig traverse for the deadhang.

I picked a perfect place to practice my pistols along my run earlier. (Wow that was a lot of pickled peppered P’s)

These are challenging and wouldn’t consider myself “good” at these. It’s fun to try new things and challenge yourself a bit and see where you can improve!

Careful, as something as simple as this can impose a lot of stress on your knee or hips!

Me after my first Spartan. Happy as five Larrys. You know, fitness and motivation is a very personal thing. For me, it's not about having a butt you can crack an egg on or a six pack you can great cheese with. For me it's about working on a more functional and effective me. It's about preparation so I can make the most out the challenges presented at OCR events. The rewards are endless. In a world full of variables, distractions, temptations, the choice to ignore that little voice that says "You don't have to today" is easy. Because with every workout, with every conditioning challenge I set myself, I win a little bit every time.

This sunday I was in Pretorian Race Parcent. Very happy with my running pace, but race was decided in this ANW obstacle.
