I've tried creams, non-surgical... things to try and improve my skin'. 🍃 Andrea, one of our clients here at Beyond Beauty, kindly allowed us to follow her Venus Freeze journey. In this video, she explains how she has found this particular treatment, and the results that she has gained through it. You can watch the full video, via our Facebook page, @beyondbeautybirmingham! 😊✨

It has been known anecdotally for a long time that the B Vitamins cause acne eruptions. Until recently the understanding of why this occurs has eluded many. Recent research however has revealed that the acne bacteria, Vitamin B12 and and skin microbiome have a intertwined relationship.
.
Research has identified that there is a difference between gene expression of skin bacteria in acne patients, compared to healthy individuals with clear skin. They found that the B12 synthesis pathway of Propionibacterium acnes (P.acne) in acne patients was low compared to healthy individuals, which led them to study the relationship between B12 and acne. Many bacteria need B12 for metabolic activity and they have the ability to synthesise their own.
.
What the research found is that when B12 is supplemented that the bacteria stopped producing their own supplies and instead begin producing porphyrin molecules. Porphyrins can generate inflammation and acne is triggered by inflammation initially. Vitamin B12 actually altered the normal metabolic pathway and activity of the skin bacteria. B12 supplementation can make clear skin become prone to acne skin. Which has been evidenced by the increase in breakouts post vitamin B12 supplementation.
.
Researchers also observed that another pathway, the porphyrin biosynthesis, is linked to the B12 biosynthesis pathway. They hypothesize that when there is an elevated B12 level, it leads to an overproduction of porphyrins by P.acnes. Previous studies have shown that porphyrin can induce inflammation and acne.
.
So what can you do?
Avoid supplements that have high doses of vitamin B12 in them. Be aware of foods high in vitamin B12. Milk, Cheese, Liver, Kidney, Pate, Clams, Crab, Oysters and Mussels all contain high levels of vitamin B12. You may want to limit some of these food choices if your skin is currently experiencing breakouts and flare ups.

Saturday skin tip #1 - Love your skin; avoid foam cleansers. Why? 🤷🏾‍♀️ Because of sodium laureth sulfate which is the foaming agent used in most cleansers. 💧This ingredient changes the skin’s pH levels from healthy to alkaline.
💧It can also be comedogenic which means it can cause blackheads, clogged pores, acne, or dry skin and can lead to premature ageing.
💧Cleansers do not need to foam in order to be effective. It’s important however to not just randomly pick a cleanser but to choose a product which addresses your specific skin concerns.
R + F has 4 different non-foaming cleansers for different skin concerns: 💙 REDEFINE - Kaolin clay-based 💚 SOOTHE - Gentle cream wash
💛 REVERSE - Deep exfoliating wash
💜 UNBLEMISH (US and Canada) - Sulfur wash. Curious what your heart color is? Take my solution tool at https://kmoore11.myrandf.com/Pages/OurProducts/GetAdvice/SolutionsTool #cleansers #nofoam #rf #skintips #loveyourskin #whatcolorareyou

Plus, they should be formulated to work together. If your skincare products need an upgrade to these powerful ingredients, let’s get you started on the #1 skincare brand in N. America!
Don't forget about your eyes, as the eyes are the windows to the soul. 👁✨ Investing in an eye cream, will effectively treat fine lines and prevent deep lines from forming. This is especially important, as the eye area is the first location to show the visible signs of ageing. To apply, squeeze a pea sized amount to your forefinger, tap it with the other, and gently apply to the eye area, starting from the inner corners.
After this step has been completed, use light circular movements to massage the product into the skin. Always remember, for best results the eye cream has to be applied before the moisturiser.

Skin conditions and what you may need to increase vitamin and supplement wise! Don’t forget, Gray hair: Zinc! (Thanks for that tip @master.aesthetician) A study described in the “Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology” journal revealed that a buildup of hydrogen peroxide disrupts melanin in the hair shaft and throughout the body, causing gray hair. Melanin is what gives our hair its color and our skin its pigmentation. Smoking also has been found to influence early graying, and genetics plays a significant role in determining when gray hair appears. #skintips #healthyskin #holisticskincare
