Happy February to you, friends! If you have followed along for the last few years, you might remember I like to do a little love project on Valentine’s Day. I almost didn’t do it this year and briefly thought it might be time to hang up my hearts. However, with all of the darkness, fear, and general lack of love in the world right now, I can’t think of a better time to share my heart. The rules of this project are simple. 1.) Crochet, knit, make a heart. 2.) Attach a note to it that says something encouraging like, “You are loved.”, “You matter.”, “Hope is real.” and include the hashtag #TheSocialHeartProject. 3.) Leave your hearts out in the world on Valentine’s Day, 2/14/17. Hang one on the door of your favorite coffee shop, a park bench, place one on your neighbor’s doormat...the possibilities are endless! Leave a little love somewhere in your community. 4.) Take a photo of your heart and share it with the hashtag #TheSocialHeartProject. 5.) That’s it! Make one heart or make one hundred. Give and do what you can to remind those around you that love is still out there. We have the power every day to be a light in this world! This is one small way to do it and I can’t wait to see what you create. ❤️
Oops! I accidentally posted this at lunchtime without the caption and didn't realise all day because I was teaching 🙈 sorry, everyone! Let's try that again, my original post should have gone something like this... This week I've been thinking ahead toward Valentine's inspired makes. Though I'm not overly keen on some of the ridiculous commercial and financial pressures of Valentines Day I do however see value in that it encourages us all to reflect on the love and appreciation we have for our partners, family, and closest friends. However I really wanted to go a bit further and maybe extend that toward strangers too by leaving these crochet rainbow hearts around in public places with empowering notes attached. The idea behind it being that when we are reminded to feel more positive about ourselves the more positive action we can achieve in our daily lives. I got this idea from something called #sheepishheartbomb a few years ago, and though it's not running anymore in its current form I still love the whole premise behind it. Im not exactly sure exactly how I would go about doing this but it is an idea I'd really like to look more into. Has anyone ever done anything similar? I'd love to hear your thoughts & advice! 💖❤️💛💚💙💜.

My contribution to the #sheepishheartbomb a little late! This was such a good experiment with some felt scraps and I made a tiny dent in my overflowing button collection. Will be making more :D
I left my (#handmade) heart on the Brooklyn Bridge. 💕
