It’s a school holiday here, but I needed to do some homework on how to regain control of my health. I didn’t overdo it tooooo much on Thanksgiving, which turned out to be really fun! (Big thanks to all who helped support me through my anxiety about it!!) But this is a chronic issue, and I have the time and courage today to face it. I paired the Housewives and Zombie Tarot decks to keep it plucky, because I need to keep my sense of humor when doing a deep dive into my self-sabotaging behaviors. 🚪🔒🗝
The Seven of Cups as my “DOOR” card (from both decks!!) tells me I have many choices to make, and that I really can’t have it all. Saying yes to one thing means saying no to something else. And for too long I have been saying “no” to various healthy habits in the interest of pursuing other more immediately rewarding activities. It’s a big problem, and while I have made some small changes, it’s time for some serious re-prioritizing in my life. 🚪🔒🗝 The “LOCK” cards (Judgment and Three of Hazards aka Wands) work on two levels here — in fact I DO have issues with the scale, and the hilarious zombie card image (zombie as family pet, chasing a bone) speaks to me about my body image/identity as “not well” or “unable to exercise.” Excuses. Unhelpful ideas that need to be shed. Getting past these is a lock that is rusty and feels hard to open. 🚪🔒🗝 The “KEY” cards + clarifiers (Hanged Man + Four of Swords and The Fool + The Sun) tell me I need to break my unhealthy patterns with a new attitude! Self-care, self-belief, and taking charge of my life rather than just wishing for change. I have to put in the work, rescue myself, focus on what I CAN do rather than what I CAN’T do. This is a long standing battle I have with my body and my behaviors. My eyes are drawn back to the zombie “dog” — THAT guy is not letting his limitations stop him from using his body!! 😂 I have to do something “drastic” like making my health my number one priority. So here is my public commitment to myself, to start spending an hour on my body and mind before I get online or do anything else more “fun.” Going to do some easy yoga now. Love to you all! 💛

My shoulders have been really tight and sore this week from all the different exercises I’ve been doing (and being back in the gym for the first time in just about forever!)
Even though I wasn’t really feeling it, my older sister and I agreed to suffer through #bbg together - so I had to do it! *

So sunny and warm today! Took full advantage of it and Fin and I went on a 5 mile run.

I'm hella sore from starting a new weight training program and it was windy so it was a slow run, but 5 miles used to be impossible so I'm proud of myself for getting out and getting it done!

In the past I would have just vegged out the day after Thanksgiving - not anymore!

Ok....so when you have super long hair, and you’re too unwell to get to the hair stylist...or have no energy to bother trying to manage styling it yourself.....you get really bored of having it in a top knot 24/7!!
Tried something my momma used to do for me when i was a kid....braid it at night, sleep, take braid out....and bam!....curly hair that looks sort of cared for!! Boom!! Guess I needed to have a little time for me. Self care is soooooooo important tbh. I don't mean dieting or exercising (which is cool) but like spending free time by yourself and doing the things you like to do and spoiling yourself a little. Like if you feel good painting or reading or whatever, it's great spending a day just for you doing that! Me for example, I have lots of pimples and stuff so I take real care of my skin face daily but sometimes I like spending like a whole afternoon putting thingies on my face to feel it smooth and perfect. That way (idk why) I feel prettier and happier with myself. Idk. Having this shit all over my face makes me philosophical #selfcare #selflove #shit

The only time i am not enjoying my moment, is when i am not in my moment! There are times in my life when i have been miserable in beautiful locations with amazing souls doing wonderful things. Why? Because i (my mind) wasn't really there. I would then make it worse by giving myself a hard time for not being happy when i felt i should be. Us humans are crazy like this! Now i realise that i can be happy anywhere doing anything if i am actually there (not off worrying about the past or focusing on the future). And when i am struggling to remember this i no longer give myself a hard time for being human, i just honour that part of me and come back to my moment and then the mental misery fades and gratitude and pleasure thrives!

Journalling is definitely my way of staying kind to myself 🌱 Sitting down for a little ritual with tea, a notebook and my mind full of thoughts, it really helps me to write it all out and use that time to release, reflect and reconnect to kindness, my true self and true intentions 🙏🏼
Does anyone regularly practice focused breathing exercises? Try a basic long deep breath. Most people are shallow breathers-only accessing a fraction of their vital energy. 😌 ✔️Inhale through the nose for 5 counts and Exhale for 5 counts and find out how quickly it centers you.
