With #adhmx round the corner, here’s my wish to every runner: “ Push through and don’t give up. Ever. No matter how much you want to, just keep telling yourself you can do it. And remember to always finish strong.” Rest and relax now. An easy 5km won’t do any harm. However, do what you’ve been doing two days before your race day. Nothing new- be it food, gear or even stretching so close to race day. Try and get an hour or two of extra sleep a couple do nights before race day as the night before the race, it’s normal to be anxious and you may not sleep very well. Hydration is key. Please hydrate well. One litre of your favourite energy drink every day apart from your water intake is a great idea.
Get up around 3 hours before the race and eat a somewhat light, carb-based breakfast. Getting up early allows your body to wake up and eating not long after you get up allows your food to process some before the race. Get to the race area no later than 45 minutes before the race.
If you are stressed out thinking you are not going to do well or filled with other doubts, take a look at your running log and reflect on all the preparation you have done. If you do not keep a running log, reflect back upon what you have done in advance to get ready. When you reflect on all of the effort you put into your preparation you cannot help but be filled with confidence. Also, think of that feeling you will experience once you cross that finish line. Visualise success.

Great run tonight with @denbighharriers such a friendly club, but they push you to be your best too. Leg feeling a bit tight still post injury, but really trying to stretch better after a run. Letzter Tempodauerlauf für den #maratonvalencia 🇪🇸🏃 15 Km in 53:53 Minuten (3:35min/km) auf der König-Ludwig-Runde in Schwangau. Davor etwas Lauf-ABC als WarmUp. Meine Schnegge war heute der perfekte Pacemaker auf dem 🚲. Danke 💓😘 Wetter war mit 7°C und Nieselregen bei schwachem Wind passabler als erwartet!
