So here I am, senior year and falling into my first deep depression. It was my last year of high school and I was determined to make the best of it. I motivated myself to lose weight fast by being completely cruel to my own body. I remember seeing all the motivational ED profiles and their constant posts of depression when they already hit their goal. I didn’t understand. They reached their goal. It wasn’t until a year later that I finally realized why. I aimed for this goal so passionately that I eventually lost the friends I had because ED meant more. I put this disease before anything and everyone because I was living for the future thinking all this would pay off once I reached my goal. I was depressed with hope fading away each day. It wasn’t until my English teacher opened up and told us she had just found out she had breast cancer. I remember that day. she handed out permission slip forms to have our parents sign because she wanted to end our second semester by doing what no other teacher was doing. Carpe diem. Why such a risky thing to teach? Because carpediem can be viewed in the most negative or positive way. “ Carpe diem nearly killed me but also brought me back to life. #robinwilliams #carpediemquamminimumcredulapostero #carpediem #ocaptainmycaptain

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
Directed by: Jake Kasdan
Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, Bobby Cannavale, Nick Jonas and Rhys Darby
Review: I have yet to see the first Jumanji but when I first heard that this was being made, I didn't know how to feel because it just seemed like another tally onto everyone's filmography. However, the more I saw the trailer constantly playing in the cinema, the more I wanted to see this movie and I was surprised at how much fun I had with this movie. One thing I loved even more was seeing everyone in this movie give it their all, they were really passionate about making a good movie and I believe they delivered. Dwayne Johnson is renowned to be that tough badass that you don't mess with in movies, but here his "human' counterpart played by Alex Wolff is quite the opposite. He's essentially everything that Dwayne Johnson isn't, and I loved this because in a way, Johnson gets to act more instead of playing what he's usually typecast as. Kevin Hart however is cracking the same height and race jokes, but when his "human" self is again, the opposite, I think these jokes were well justified. Karen Gillan was good in the movie also, but she was just fine to me; Jack Black on the other hand was basically what Johnson was, the polar opposite of his typecast. Black's counterpart is a self-absorbed teenage Instagram girl and I can see that Black had a lot of fun with this role. Another bonus is that all four actors had excellent chemistry with each other. Another strong aspect of Jumanji has to be the video game aspect of everything and how faithful it was in terms of "following the rules". I also found that Jake Kasdan directed a good looking movie; there were plenty of wide shots showcasing the location and the action scenes were also cut together well. In terms of flaws, Bobby Cannavale's role as the game's bad guy was pretty bland and also the typical cliche ending as well as some questionable CGI, but looking past these minor problems, I had a great time watching Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The cast gave it 100% and if you know what you're getting into, you'll have fun.
