It’s been 1 year since the travel ban, 1 year since the US, a country made up of immigrants, people of different races, colors, religions, made it harder for certain categories of people to come here. 1 yr since even greater divides were drawn between us and them. Yet the rule of law guarantees the exact right that you are trying to ban. Any foreigner means anyone from any country, any religion, any race that meets the refugee definition and is eligible to be granted asylum💭

#365project #grenoble
"No matter where you are from, we're glad you're our neighbor." - So many front yard signs we saw following @garrett_cathcart and @atlredcross around Clarkston checking and testing and installing smoke detectors for MLK Day of Service

“ I am used to thinking of travel as an escape from security and predictability and stability, not a journey in search of these things. I am used to thinking of home as something that gets left behind at the start of a journey, not something you might be travelling perilously towards” ~ Adele Dumont, in No Man is an Island . . .
Security. Predictability. Stability. These are remnants of home that refugees, given the opportunity, can rebuild for their families here. They have no choice but to rebuild. And the beautiful fact is that they turn around and help us build security, predictability, and stability in our communities. How much easier will that be for them if we open our arms and tell them we’re glad they’re here? #createrefuge #refugeeswelcomehere
