Choosing the hottest day of the year so far to finish prepping the raised beds, better late than never 🤷‍♂️

I love this time of year when all of the planting I did starts to bloom. These tulips are so beautiful 😍 Really can’t wait to see the pink and white Angelique ones whenever they decide to make an appearance #gardening #homegrown #flowers #flowerstagram #flower_daily #tulips #tulipseason #red #redflowers #englishgarden #xyris #xyrisbotanicals #sun #kent #countryliving #gardenofengland #flower #raisedbeds #cuttinggarden #beautiful #flowersmakemehappy

Making room for the third raised bed. My hubby will build it this weekend. Clearing the space is a lot of work so I started before it got to warm. It’s forcasted to be 28 degrees celsius today! #garden #raisedbeds #ediblegarden #growyourownfood #warmweather

Sorting out what to grow in the three raised beds. Made lists, put all the seed packets in the corresponding envelopes and made sure it all goes together with companion growing lists from the internet. Loads of beans and squash. New ones this year: purple broccoli, parsnip, turnip for the greens, cucumber (a hardy variety), and peas. #growyourownfood #ediblegarden #raisedbeds #raisedbedgarden #somanyseeds #growgrowgrow #veg #fruit #salad #yum #sorting #companionplanting #gardening #garden #garden2018 #letsgettowork

Morning sunshine // ☀️🙏🌱surprising how it makes you feel growing your own produce - I am yet to see if it actually grows into anything yet. But the thought and effort is there at least! #raisedbeds #greenfingers #allotment #organic

While riding by, I spotted another Community Garden in urban Charlotte, catering to everyone from the smallest of birds and critters such as bees, butterflies, worms, lady bugs, etc., to the hungriest of souls and bodies in need. Unlike the neighborhood garden that I featured earlier in the week, this one is maintained by Central United Methodist Church. They use land adjacent to their parking lot that would normally be overlooked & lie fallow to cultivate herbs, vegetables, fruit, blooming plants, etc. I am thrilled to see bird houses nailed to the fence posts and inspirational quotations meant to capture the intellect. Raised beds contain blooming chives and other herbs. Yarrow appears to have sprung up volunteer along the edge of the fenced plot. Water barrels sit on either end of the long, narrow garden tract, ready to engage with the irrigation system. If one so chooses, join the congregation for an uplifting message in word and song, in English or Spanish, then invest some sweat-equity in exchange for fresh, farm-to-table food. In a large city with limited access for many to fresh produce, this is a marvelous resource. Teach young children how things grow and let them taste the sweet reward of a job well done.✨Shout out to Central United Methodist Church on Albemarle Road in Charlotte, NC! Way to bless the community by meeting needs with LOVE in action!!✨ #communitygarden #urbanfarming #birds #pollinators #worms #herbs #vegetables #fruit #birdhouses #waterbarrels #irrigation #plot #raisedbeds #Spanish #English #sweatequity #produce #farmtotable #farmtofork #eatlocal #eatfresh #community #loveinaction #hardworkpaysoff #teachchildren #reaprewards #carolinianbynature #gardensinthecity #gardenparty #CharlotteNC @centralumc

The garden made it through the terrible winds. So thankful I added the sticks to each plant for stability when I planted them.

Most of the plants did pretty good through the winds. The scorpion and habaneros did especially well and still have many of their blossoms! Can’t wait for the chilies to grow!!

But my poor Scotch Bonnets lost most of their flowers. Hope they can recover quickly.
