Grapefruit was discovered in Barbados in the 18th century.
It is an excellent source of vitamin C which is great for our immune systems.
It reduces inflammation in our body so it can be useful in asthma, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Grapefruit can act as an appetite suppressant due to the fibre in it. The fibre content also makes it useful for weight loss.
High in the antioxidant lycopene especially in the red and pink grapefruits. This is useful in preventing prostate cancer.
Other phytonutrients in grapefruit can inhibit tumour formation.
High amounts of pectins in grapefruit have been shown to slow the progression of atherosclerosis, reduce LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.
Drinking grapefruit juice can significantly reduce your risk of calcium oxolate kidney stones.
NB: grapefruit juice can make certain pharmaceutical drugs more potent. Generally medications like calcium channel blockers, immunosuppressant drugs, anti histamines, oestradiol and statins.
Who loves grapefruits? .

Though prostate cancer is the second most common form of cancer in American men, its causes are still unknown. However, experts know that certain lifestyle adjustments that benefit your overall health also go a long way toward preventing cancer, including prostate cancer. Dr. Charles Kim, urologist at @palimomimedctr, details a few ways to potentially lower your risk of prostate cancer.
1) Focus on healthier food
2) Enhance your exercise routine
3) Say NO to Cigarettes
4) Talk to Your Doctor

Day 11/24
@thisishomerau is about redefining masculinity and what it’s like to be a man today... and it’s support goes beyond the typical white privilege point of view to involve all men and shapes in that concept.

But - when I read this caption - I shivered: Men are not included. Society is passing by and leaving so many men behind, voiceless, powerless, as spectators... then we wonder why some do loud things to get notoriety.
Check them out, listen up to their truths and let’s open up an empowering dialogue to save all our men.

Repost @thisishomerau
A member of the Canberra legislative assembly, Mark Parton, claimed recently that white men over the age of thirty who have stable employment aren’t included in anything. There’s a lot to unpack in that, and unpack it all is what we set out to do on this week's podcast (link in bio). The significance of this, as we see it, has a lot to do with economic factors, and with people misrecognising why exactly men’s health needs (among many, many other things) aren’t being met. What do you think?

Day 10/24
So, as many of you, I met @justinbaldoni as Rafael on @cwjanethevirgin (One of my BIGGEST TV OBSESSIONS!) but I NEVER imagined that, behind his looks (and let’s face it, he’s hot) and his acting, there was this amazing human committed to his religion, his family and empowering more and more men to have a richer emotional life.

The more I read his words, the more I admire him as a dad, human and entrepreneur. He is a well rounded men, humble yet honest, someone we need more men following because it is through this type of profiles that they can get powerful tools to make their journeys better.

Like the profile but, more than anything, read his captions... your life will be changed by them!

*Read and please tag a man in your life🙏🏼❤️
We live in a culture where stereotypically masculine qualities are celebrated as strong while feminine qualities are looked at as weak. Where men have dominated over women by way their louder voices, stronger bodies, and use of control. But this is changing. As men we aren’t born like this- we learn this behavior, and because of our privilege we unconsciously perpetuate it because the benefits are stacked in our favor. We have reaped the rewards of a system that benefits men in every capacity without realizing that true equality is actually better for men. But it’s not our fault. We learn this from the men who have come before us. But there are also good men out there, who believe In equality, and in tearing off the masks that we learned to put on as children when we were told we had to reject all those feminine qualities in ourselves. Things are changing and I couldn’t be more grateful to have a dad who showed me that real power came from using my heart… not my hands.

I like this one cause it's real. I'm thankful for the presence of elders in life that have always put a mirror in front of my face. The only friends I keep are the ones who are honest enough with me to tell me when I'm full of shit.
Excited to be supporting a great cause with breast and prostate cancer awareness at the talk of the town gala
