@kari_biggs with the #mondaymotivation showing that there's no excuse to not sticking to your goals. Like traveling! Living out of a hotel for a couple weeks while traveling for work isn't stopping her! She planned and packed ☝️☝️all the necessities! When she got there she shopped and prepped! That way she can control as much of her meals veruses eating out every meal every day! She did her research, took her training program and adapated for what the hotel has! When its a lifestyle , you figure out a way and adjust to make it work!!! I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree! I try to instil an appreciation for healthy living AND our connection to nature in my kids. Nice to see some of my efforts are rubbing off 😁.

It's amazing what they pick up on, just by setting a positive example. Do you notice your kids picking up on things that are important to you, even if you aren't trying?
Having some trouble on this #motivationmonday so fair warning; rant ahead. *****************************************Being in #residency is by far, the most difficult thing I’ve ever been through in my life. It’s not just the crazy hours and 24hr shifts and the amount of material that you’re expected to know/learn (aka studying for hours on end after working up to 80hrs/week), but often the sense of what are we even doing this for. Our “healthcare” system is so corrupt and treats the people caring for patients like crap. We’re expected to be perfect and do nothing but work. Now you’re probably thinking “but hey, doctors make a ton of money so who cares.” Well, first off we have to pay off our student loans. Decades ago this may have not been such a burden, but now the cost is astronomical. I personally have nearly $500,000 of debt, compounding at almost 7%/year. By the time I finish residency/fellowship this will be well over $600,000. Next: who cares if you make a ton of money if you have no time to enjoy it or anyone to share it with. The amount of extra administrative work that doctors must do on top of their regular work keeps on getting bigger and bigger, and it’s simply expected to be done without any compensation despite the fact that it takes many hours to perform. Working as much as we do makes having any meaningful relationship very difficult and puts even the strongest relationships to the rest. ******************************************Then, let’s take into account the current system in places is organized to keep people sick and make profits for the big corporations that run healthcare. Sadly, the patients suffer most; not only from the sicknesses that ail them, but also from the financial calamity that follows them after receiving treatment. At times, it seems like a hopeless endeavor. Fortunately we live in a time where knowledge/information is more freely dispersed, largely due to the internet and social media. I hope to use this platform to start informing more people of the things I’ve learned over the years to make a change before it’s too late. Stay tuned for more.

If you aren't doing something today to move you in the direction of where you want to go, why the fuck are you wasting time?

Today was still a little rough for me after the weekends wedding festivities. I was still dead tired and half hungover this morning. But I dragged my ass into the gym anyway for what was supposed to be the most brutal leg day session of this month. .
And I finished it and hit every weight and rep I was supposed to. Did it suck? Yes, a lot! But was it worth it? Absolutley.
.
If you want to keep improving you have to keep working. Don't ever stop pushing yourself in the right direction. Especially on the days you don't want to. Those are the days that build true strength. Not strength of the muscles necessarily, by strength of the mind. Which is much more valuable in the scheme of things.

Since everyone and their mother wanted to play golf yesterday (gorgeous day in Charlotte), mom and I had a little extra time on the Teebox to work on some great golf exercises! Also, so proud of this gal and admire her fitness regimen. She works out five days a week (spin, yoga, weights) and walks 18 holes while pushing her bag. Special shout out to the Faja for being a phenomenal videographer. The G-Train also walked and pushed his bag for 18 and works out four days a week! Needless to say, they have been wonderful role models to my brother and have guided us to lead a healthy lifestyle!

I have overwhelmed myself with fear, paralyzing the muscles of my body and charging them with powerful negative energy that exhausts the spirit. Patanjali’s explanation in the first Yoga sutra of our false perception drives me to seek the truth each time that those paralyzing fears attempt to hijack my emotions.
Our sense of security and the seat of our emotions inhabit the body energetically in the lower belly and pelvic floor (root & sacral chakras, respectively). Creating space through hip opening holds and belly breath are powerful ways to release the negative charges that build up in a world where fear reigns.

In class this week, we are creating this space, and making our small contribution to make a world with less fear, and more freedom to be and feel truly, and deeply. 🌍 💕🙏🏽 * * *
