#thoroughlymodernmillie #trivia 🍎 -The stage musical "Thoroughly Modern Millie" opened at the Marquis Theater on April 18, 2002, ran for 903 performances and won the 2002 Tony Award (New York City) for the Best Musical and was nominated for Best Book and Score. -Of the non-English languages purportedly spoken (German by the Baron, French by the Maestro, Spanish by Juarez, Italian by the Bernini Brothers, Hebrew in the Jewish wedding song, and Chinese between Mrs. Meers and the laundrymen), the only one that is not truly spoken is Chinese i.e. what Mrs. Meers and the laundrymen are speaking are made up sounds, not Chinese. #classicsuggestions #julieandrews #marytylermoore #carolchanning #janesfox #johngavin #musicals #movietrivia

#thoroughlymodernmillie #trivia 🛎 -According to Mary Tyler Moore's autobiography "After All", Lew Wasserman had brought her to Universal after her unexpected success as a comic actress on The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961) with the hopes of making her "the next Doris Day" in light movie comedies. -This was originally intended to be a film of that type until Julie Andrews came onboard, and only then did it become a musical that focused more on her. -Moore originally had a solo song that was cut from the final release. #classicsuggestions #julieandrews #marytylermoore #carolchanning #janesfox #johngavin #musicals #movietrivia

Fun fact from The Breakfast Club (1985): The scene in which all characters sit in a circle on the floor of the library and tell stories about why they were in detention was not scripted. John Hughes told them all to ad-lip.

Predator (1987): The then unknown Jean-Claude Van Damme was originally cast to play the role of the Predator. During filming however Van Damme was adamant that the Predator be a more agile creature in order to show of his martial arts abilities, which simply was not possible in the Predator suit. The producers also felt that Van Damme was too short to create an imposing enough figure against the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The decision was then taken to fire and Van Damme and he was replaced by 7 foot tall Kevin Peter Hall!
