“My birth experience was a hard one. No one expected me to birth an almost 10 lb baby vaginally. As this was my first time, I was submissive to many things I now wish I could change. I should have voiced how I felt. Two years later, these pictures get harder to look at. You can see the nurse is holding back my reaching arms. I wanted my son to be placed on my chest immediately. But it wasn’t until after my son was made a spectacle (like a prized pig being hung upside down as a photo opt) that he was finally placed with me. I was emotional and wanted nothing more than to be with him. I was exhausted. I fell asleep while Aleister was later latched to me. They told me it was wrong that he rest attached to me as I rested. I didn’t understand. They took him from me moments later fearing he had fluid in his lungs. It was a long 7 days that he was in the NICU for precautionary measures. They gave him a pacifier and later I struggled to get him to latch again to feed day after day. I was met with sadness, discouraging thoughts, and a partner who was anything but supportive. I felt alone and scared most of the time. But it made me stronger. I learned more in those seven days than in my entire life. I did it all for him. Walking across the hospital every two hours to deliver breast milk to him. Holding him. I loved him. He is a healthy 2 year old now. He is the most wonderful being I have ever met. With every struggle I am greeted with his beautiful face and spunky personality. And it just reminds me that every dark moment doesn’t last. That they serve as a reminder of battles I have overcome.” | The #motherhoodrising Chronicles are waiting for you to fill them with stories - Be one of the first to begin building an inclusive and interactive community. Two years ago today, I asked Steven if he would take some pictures of me and my growing bump at 30 weeks pregnant with Leighton. In a month it will be two years since we came home from the hospital without that little girl. Today, I stood outside in the same spot taking pictures with Riley in her first real snow.

Time is a funny thing. I remember in the beginning of our grief, days felt like months and now, I don’t know how we’re almost two years in to it. Our grief has softened slightly, it’s true. But there was a period when I didn’t think it would, that the fog would never clear and happiness wouldn’t return.
Time can heal, but not fully. I'm sure I'll always relive January and February as they were in 2016 but my hope is that I'm able to rejoice in those memories rather than dread them. In a month, Leighton will be two. In two and a half months, Riley will be one. Grateful to be their mom, through the good and the grief.

Baby Kensley is cutting her first tooth this week! She’s doing surprisingly well but if you’re like me right now and need something to occupy your fussy crawling loved one for a little bit then you NEED to check this Skip Hop Activity Center out! She loves it and gives me a few minutes to eat lunch or clean up. I included it in my blog post — Top 10 Essential Most Used Baby Items >> Link in bio! ❤️

For the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I don’t actually want to lose my curves. I don’t want to NOT posses the hips that have helped support my body through growing THREE seperate lives.
Lives that mean so much to us.
The hips that are curved perfectly to sit any one of our three beautiful children on them.
I’m actually digging my boobies. I know that gravity are digging them too but what of it? My side boob is far from perky but these highly capable breasts of mine have been the soul nourishment for 3 tiny babes and have provided them with all that they need from birth and far beyond.
I love the smile lines I can see on my face. They represent the many times I have felt completely content and also had a good ol’ belly laugh. The lines that are starting to form on my forehead are most likely from all the times I’ve raised my eyebrow at the kids in a silent expression of my mood. Each line upon this face tells a different story.
Bring on the ageing process. You won’t find me fighting it or altering anything. I am who I am because of the wonderful life I’m living.
I’ve decided to warmly embrace who I am and give her all the love I can. My body is the reason our three beautiful girls are here. They are healthy and beautiful and everything I ever dreamed of, and my body was the house for such life.
Such wonder.
They walk and talk and joke and laugh and live all because my body was the vessel in which they grew. It’s simultaneously mind blowing as well as being so perfectly simple.
I am learning to love the skin I’m in on a level I never knew I would be able to. At some of the roughest stages of my life, have hated every single part of my physical appearance.
Not anymore.
Now I’m in silent awe and constant admiration of what this amazing body of mine has done, and I’ll thank myself every single day for it.
If you’re reading this and you’re a Mother, your body has given you the real reason for knowing what love means.
Surely you can show it love in return. .
