What’s your best workout playlist?
-
Every time I find a totally awesome @spotify playlist, the songs change and I end up with some chilled out vibes which don’t get me pumped up, it’s like they think I’m sat on beach somewhere drinking a pina. For workouts, I usually have old hip hop or grime, finishing off with something more chilled for the stretches.

“It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like, it’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are.”
— Paul Caponigro

This portrait is who I am and expressed without a single word. To do that, you must be more than a photographer. You see, anyone these days can pick up a camera, take photos and call themselves a photographer. The people who are above average at photography are truly artists and their tool is the lens, instead of a pen or brush. My friend, Terry Snead, is a true artist and he doesn't refer to himself as a photographer, but calls himself a visionary. He is much more than that and we have only just begun a friendship. We have a huge connection and he has a way of expressing himself and capturing images that is intriguing and meaningful. This is a portrait he did of me. This is a very powerful image and it speaks volumes about who I am. I am transitioning in many ways in my life, all at once. This portrait captures all of the changes I am undergoing. It expresses the newness of it all, the excitement some of it brings, the sadness and acceptance of other parts of it, the depth of the pain I have felt for some time and the comfort in the release of that same pain. It tells you about the woken spirit of a woman who never believed she could and now she is. These are the words that his images would express if they spoke. But actually, they don't need to. They stand alone just fine, apart from the rest, just like the visionary who captured them does to other photographers. Because he is an artist. This quote reminds me of him, my portrait and myself.
