⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This X-Ray demonstrates an autoimmune disease. Typically is affects the proximal joints of the hands, shoulders, elbows and knees. Any ideas? ⠀⠀

This was in a clinic I was in today with one of the leading Neurologists in the UK. I learnt so much just being in his presence. The enthusiasm he had for teaching (even though he wasn't expecting me at his clinic) was amazing and I really appreciated it!
This Gem that you see in the picture is a very ancient copy of the ISHIHARA TESTS FOR COLOUR DEFICIENCY (blindness). •

Arm wrestling gone terribly wrong!! ⚠ Fracture of the humerus following an arm wrestle is a relatively rare occurrence. The shoulder joint is actively internally rotated against the opponent while the elbow is fixed in flexion, resulting in enormous violent torque forces across the humeral shaft.

This type of arm wrestling injury is the result of the defending arm wrestler taking or being forced to take a posture in which his centre of gravity and therefore his body weight shifts. As the offensive wrestler continues with the attack, the defender's internal rotator shoulder muscles suddenly and passively stretch and change from their maximally concentric contraction to an eccentric compensatory contraction, resulting in an intense rotational force with subsequent humeral fracture.

Take home message!

Arm wrestling is an enjoyable ego boosting sport, but it is not benign and should not be attempted on a competitively serious level by those who are not regularly trained arm wrestlers.

This quote (originally about Senator Elizabeth Warren) has become a battle cry for bold women. We will hear so many people tell us no. It is our job to know our own worth and advocate for ourselves. 💕

A 30-year-old woman with a 8-year history of intermittent episodes of redness and photophobia in both eyes presented to the clinic. Slit-lamp examination revealed conjunctival hyperemia and peripheral corneal opacification, with inflammation and crystalline deposits on the corneal stroma consistent with interstitial keratitis.
10 months later, the patient reported having vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss. What is the most likely diagnosis?
a) Cogan’s syndrome
b) High lead exposure
c) Lymphoma
d) Syphilis
e) SLE .

Since starting school, my bedside RN job has actually become my “break” and my love for nursing is renewed. I’m typically thrilled to be at work these days because I feel competent, I know the job, and I have an excuse to turn off my phone and care for patients. I can’t wait to graduate so I can work more... can anyone relate? Am I nuts? Well, everyone knows I’m a little nuts, but you know what I mean 😂❤️ ❤️

Take the world by storm and be the strong, fearless, bold woman you were meant to be. My parents were immigrant 20 year olds that came to America to make a living for our family. I never had the picture perfect childhood since my parents were always working their butts off to give me the best life. My dad, one of the most intelligent men I know, with a high school degree has worked tirelessly and created his own American dream. He always taught me that education is power and now that I am older, I am so thankful he pushed me to keep pursuing my studies, I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. Thank you 아빠 💕
Today is Day 1️⃣ of my series on topics in Medical Nutrition Therapy! Today we are talking about Obesity and Weight Management 🍎

What are the causes of obesity?
Obesity can be caused by genetic factors, lifestyle choices, or medical disorders/treatment. Genetic factors include your body's natural weight regulation (we each have a "set point" that our bodies will always try to adjust back to following a weight gain or loss), the number and size of fat cells, your unique Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR), etc. Environmental and lifestyle factors such as nutrition, sleep patterns, and stress can also have an impact on weight. Medical diagnoses such as Prader-Willi, Cushing Syndrome and Hypothyroidism can also cause weight gain.

What is Metabolic Syndrome?
Any combination of 3 of these risk factors:
1. Waist Circumference of >40 in for males and >35 in for females
2. Blood Glucose of >100 fasting
3. Triglyceride Level of >150 mg/dL
4. High Density Lipoprotein Level of <40 mg/dL for males and <50 mg/dL for females
5. Blood Pressure of >130/85 mm Hg

My favorite thing that I have learned through my classes about weight management is that there is no "one size fits all" for health. Every body is different and has unique nutritional and physical needs in order to be the healthiest it can be. The obesity epidemic is problematic and serious, but let's focus on celebrating the beauty of the human body and the good choices people make rather than shame the less healthy ones✨🎉
