Buenas noches!
Puntuación: 🐱🐱🐱🐱-5 // good night! the greeting with a hug huge and many kisses. while sailing in the immense sea Internet I found this recommendation: me heart in the days Gray, Jasmine warga. I picked up this book out of a sense of obligation rather than out of a genuine interest in the book itself. I have followed @johngreenwritesbooks‘ online persona for quite some time, yet I had yet to read one of his books. I didn’t even see his two movies that have come out over the past years. My ambivalence (a far too generous word) toward Young Adult Literature (Harry Potter notwithstanding) is somewhat unfair haven read hardly any YA literature. So I decided to pick up John Green’s debut novel, “#LookingForAlaska.” In some ways, this book fell short in all the ways that I feared. Some of that may be due to it being Green’s first novel: there are story elements that seem to have little connection to the whole of the narrative and others seem to be only marginally developed before they are expected to pay off. Yet in Miles’ indie-twee “great perhaps” and Alaska’s sophomoric obsession with Simón Bolívar's labyrinth!, Green manages to capture something of the earnestness of youth that is perhaps part and parcel to such so-called bad writing.
Take a group of high schoolers just stumbling through their first introductions to literature, philosophy, and religion; have them each trying to live out a genuine and unique version of themselves; make it impossible for them to realize how insignificant and inconsequential all the drama and hurt of growing up really is (and who can blame them; when you are sixteen it seems like the whole of existence depends on what is right in front of you); and John Green’s pseudo-autobiographical book would be the result.
Like hanging out with a group of high schoolers, good or bad, Green’s book captures something earnest and real, the stuff of being young and growing up and looking for an answer, a relationship, a way out that you just can’t seem to find. .

Voi invece lo avete letto? Cosa state leggendo in questo momento?

“You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you'll escape one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present.“ #johngreen #lookingforalaska
