B A C K T O T H E M A T || Are you struggling to get back on your mat after the summer break? We started Ashtanga yoga classes again this week @vibestudiolondon and it's definitely been an eye opener for so many that the biggest hurdle to getting back on the mat is often in our heads. The excuses, the resistance, the mental chitter chatter telling us why we can't or shouldn't go to practice. That's probably the most exhausting part of finding out way back to the mat, the struggle with our own monkey mind.
And here's the thing, we may not move as quickly or as deeply to begin with, and that may be frustrating at first, but once we take the positive step to come back to our practice, we find that the only thing we feel is happy, joyous and relieved that after moving with and through our bodies we feel so good again. Practicing with love and gratitude is the key to a great feeling practice, it's never about how deeply we can go physically but about how deeply we are willing to go with the flow of the breath and how lost we are willing to become in dristi.
So if you're struggling to return to your yoga practice, here are a few Ti ps to coming back to the mat:
• arrange to go with a friend so that you can both support each other in coming back to practice • start on a day that's pretty empty so there's less likely to be any curve balls coming your way to prevent you from coming back • remember the longer you leave it the harder it will be • make a promise to yourself to be gentle and go easy for the first few weeks it's not a race or a competition IT'S JUST YOGA 🙏💗✌️ Class schedule @vibestudiolondon

Saturday 10-11am led 1/2 primary series ashtanga

The 6th #Chakra - Ajna (aka Centre of Command/Third eye Charkra). Ajna is related to focus, concentration, direction, intuition, intelligence and a portal into into deeper dimensions of self and spirituality. It governs the pineal gland and the balance between sleep and wake. It is the gateway to the inner teacher.
You can think of it as your Sixth Sense. An open 6th Chakra can facilitate clairvoyance, lucid dreaming, expanded imagination, telepathy, visualization. Very interesting!! There is no element associated with Ajna, as it is a spiritual portal. The 4th #Chakra - #Anahata (aka The unbroken sound). Pertains to matters of the heart, connections with people and things, #compassion, #love, #rejection & #devotion. The Anahata Chakra lies at the centre of the chest and physically includes the lungs, heart, thymus and immune/lymphatic system.
An open heart Chakra grants an outflow of compassion and love, you become quick to forgive, and become more accepting of yourself and others. A closed heart Chakra on the other hand, can allow grief, anger, jealousy, hatred and fear of betrayal to take over.
The element Air, the colour green, and the seed sound "Yam" represent the 4th Chakra.

The 3rd #Chakra - #Manipura (aka The Jewel City). This Chakra is our place of power, it controls our emotional response to the environment & the people within it. Manipura governs fear, anxiety and stress (there is too much of this in our society because we forgot how to breathe as adults!) It lies on a line between the naval and the spine and directly ties to digestion and the adrenal glands.
Activating Uddiyana Bandha by sucking in the belly and lifting the diaphragm will connect you to your Manipura Chakra.
The element of fire, the colour yellow and the seed sound "Ram" represent the 3rd Chakra.

What are the #Chakras ? They are energetic centres located along the central nadi (#Sushumna nadi - runs up the spine) that propel energy throughout the body. There are 7 chakras and each have #physical, #emotional and #spiritual significance. They can be worked with individually or as a collective.
The first Chakra is #Muladhara Chakra aka the root. It relates to instinct, security, groundedness, the concept of home, human potential, sexuality and digestive elimination.

Do you suffer from dysfunction in any of these areas? Energy blockages at the root should be a focus.
