Happy thanksgiving from mine to yours!! I have so many incredible things to be thankful for, but I'm most thankful for the man by my side, the father of my girls, the only person I'll play video games with, and the one person who will always let me win if I cry enough💕💏

Today has been a super special day. A few years back my dad started writing and recording songs whilst still running his dentistry business. It was probably around the same time my vision for The BE Platform was developing - I think my dad thought I was pretty nuts when I told him I was setting up a business "dedicated to supporting women on their journey of BE-coming their true self." (My words exactly!)💃🙈😂 I can't believe I'm actually saying this...🙈today we both came together to collaborate and I welcomed him into The BE Platform as a client.
Although I don't speak about this side of my work often, it is a super important part of my business. Each year I work with a handful of awesome creative clients, alongside my coaching clients, who are here to have a positive impact in the world and come to me for help and strategies on how to spread their positive message online and bring their vision to life 💖🌎. As a coach, it's super important to me to invest in filling up my cup so I can bring my best self to my coaching client sessions and I do that each week through being playful, creative and expressive with my creative clients. ✨

I used to worry about being a creative & a coach all at the same time - I had this crazy idea that I had to choose just one or the other, I thought I had to have one 'job title'. Now I realise how ridiculous that is - to do the same thing each and every day for the rest of your life?! I have dreams to write a book, maybe start a product line & produce a movie...should being a coach or creative stop me from doing that? 🤔
Most of my coaching clients have dreams of being (for example) a baker by day & a masseuse by night. (Isn't that just super cool?) and I encourage that because we weren't born to do the same thing each day.
Anyone reading this who finds it hard to put yourself in a box...good! You were born to BE-come the highest expression of who you truly are, if that means being a bad ass lawyer by day & a burlesque dancer by night, so be it. Own your truth and find the courage to live it, each & every single day. The magnitude of who you truly are is so much bigger than one job role or job title -you are a intimate being of love 💖

As we near the end of the year I have started spending time reflecting on my journey through 2017. I find it valuable to take time out and become aware of what has happened throughout the year; to reflect on what lessons I have learned, to notice how I have grown, to notice the ways in which my awareness has expanded, to stop and see who I am becoming and express gratitude for the unexpected gifts I have received throughout the year.

It is also enriching to include valued friends in this process, as you can reflect on the ways you have noticed growth in each other. I have found if you are overly critical of yourself it can be great to have someone else reflect back your growth and achievements to you and remind you of how much you have accomplished throughout the year.

It is also a great time to reconnect with the bigger picture of your purpose and the life you are being called to live; to reflect on how your dreams or goals may have evolved, been redefined or even changed; to take note of the ways you have worked towards your dreams and in what ways you could continue to work towards them in the new year.

Throughout this process it is good to remember how you define success so when you are reflecting on what you have achieved, that you don’t get caught up measuring your year against what others have done, or other people’s expectations of you.

Also make sure you remember that life is a journey, that sometimes it is two steps forward then one step back. And experiences from your past you felt you had healed may come up again for more healing. The human experience is messy but the best way to find joy is to jump in and allow yourself to feel deeply, lovingly embracing all parts of yourself…your light and your darkness.

During this time of reflection, I find you are shown how all that has happened to you during year, the good and the bad, was all divinely supporting you in your life…a reminder you are always being lovingly guided through experiences that honour your soul’s journey.

I think it's high time that I re-introduce myself! ⠀

My name is Sidney Shindle. I am a nutritionist, wellness consultant, baker, synchronized swimmer, coach, traveller, observer and wanderer, just to name a few. I live in Vancouver Canada, although I try to skip out on the rain a few times a year. ⠀

I am a REAL chocolate fiend, searching the world for the best bean-to-bar chocolate (and coffees) I can find. When I'm not hosting workshops or working with clients I'm either inventing something in my kitchen, researching travel destinations or spending time by the water - that's my kind of meditation! ⠀

One of the main reasons why I started Veritas was to share my love of real food, wellness, community and connection with others. Veritas means truth in Latin and I believe that truth, honesty and realness are the foundation of what we need to live a healthy, abundant and happy life. Your choice in food, friends, sleeping patterns, jobs, you name it, all reflect your decision to live your truth, whatever that may be. When you don't, things start to fall out of place. Take a second and think about it! ⠀

Stay tuned for what's to come. I'm so excited to share with you guys! ⠀

We all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirlwinds, forest fires, and comets inside us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see our destiny in grains of sand.
But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls. We get it churched out, spanked out, washed out, and combed out. We get put on the straight and narrow and told to be responsible. Told to act our age. Told to grow up, for God’s sake. And you know why we were told that? Because the people doing the telling were afraid of our wildness and youth, and because the magic we knew made them ashamed and sad of what they’d allowed to wither in themselves. ~ Robert R. McCammon [Art: Daria Hlazatova]

Are you a book person?
.
I just love ALL the books. I have a stupid amount of ebooks on my kindle but lately I’ve been buying more physical books. I don’t know what it is, I just like to have a book in my hand and turn the page. Weird?
.
Anyway, since I kicked off my wellness journey I have been reading a lot more again, mainly books about nutrition, exercise and self development.
.
Reading gives me food for thought, I learn, I’m inspired, it’s escapism, I’m motivated, but most of all I grow. Plus I’m loving @carrie_pawley #thebooksthatshapedme book club. So I thought I would give you a snapshot of some of favourites.
.
📘The Food Medic by @thefoodmedic 📘Happy by @fearnecotton 📘The universe has your back by @gabbybernstein 📘 Ice cream for breakfast by @superlativelylj 📘Lifetonic by @jodyshield 📘The life-changing magic of not giving a f**k by @mcsnugz 📘 Adventures for the soul by @shannonkaiserwrites 📘 Big Magic by @elizabeth_gilbert_writer 📘You are a badass by @jensincero .
Do you have a favourite book?

Thanksgiving afternoon. I’m grateful that I’ve gotten to the point to create @unapologetiqthebrand and use my platform, my voice, my love for myself and Black women to have something that is an agent in our healing and growth. Pushing us to love us and showing us how to do it. I’m grateful that I’m able to help all these women and girls with all areas of their lives. Even business.... I’m grateful that because I have 6 years of blood, sweat and real tears under my belt I can pour into others my expertise and experience to help them create even better businesses than LuxVi Hair ever was. It’s only right that as the woman I am today I share my knowledge and help women of color grow.

Thanksgiving morning. I’m grateful for life. For God. To know god, to know god is love & therefore so am I. That knowing God, is by virtue knowing me. For the perfection that is God & the perfect universe created as a result. I’m grateful to experience life as an imperfect human, not just any human ... a black woman, not just any black woman... but me. I’m grateful to be cared for & loved by myself first and by people around me. The last quarter of this year has been intense, but I’m grateful that I handled everything with grace and still continue to keep going in spite of. I’m grateful for my wealth in spirit, mentally & physically. I’m grateful for my perspective on life & the world. That though my glass is half full & half empty I choose to focus on my fullness. 🖤
