Congratulations @therealfaithevans  So the untitled Faith Evans project, that's a uniquely MTV story. We know Faith today as one of the most well-known, respected, strong women who came out of the rise of hip-hop through its pinnacle decade and being in a relationship with one of the biggest hip-hop artists of all time [Notorious BIG]. That is the story of Faith Evans. But Faith Evans is a young woman who wanted to fulfill her dream and turn her life into something different and along the way she fell in love, just like many young people do. And the story about an outsider making it in a world dominated by men, and falling in love along the way, that is a uniquely MTV story. And MTV was there for all of that as a witness to it. And now we have the pleasure of being able to partner with Faith and tell that story to a whole new generation.  McCarthy greenlighted an untitled four-hour Faith Evans miniseries, The untitled Evans mini follows the young aspiring singer who met and fell in love with Notorious BIG along the way. Evans produces alongside Monami Entertainment's Mona Scott-Young @monascottyoung with Nicole Jefferson Asher @allmybeatifulwickednes penning the script. #faithevans #rnbjunkie #realmusic # oldschool #90s #rnbmusic #90smusic #classic #kellyprice #kekewyatt #vh1 #notoriousbig #legendary #90shiphop #puffdaddy #lilkim #jersey #brickcity #newark #GrummanAve #tkai #thefirstlady #firstladyofrnb #queen #maryjblige #hiphopsoul #badboy #uksoul #swv @therealfaithevans @bossipofficial @theperezhilton @tmz @hollywoodlife @thejasminebrand_ @hollywoodunlocked @theviewabc @therealdaytime @wendyshow @thetalkcbs @theskorpion @theonlyjasonlee

Remy Ma urges collaboration among female rappers.
The NBA All-Star Game brought the party to Los Angeles over the weekend as sports figures, brands and celebrities converged at venues all over town ahead of the Sunday night tip-off at Staples Center.

That afternoon, rapper Remy Ma hosted what was billed as a women’s empowerment brunch. Held at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills, the Guillotine Vodka-sponsored event drew executives from Sony/ATV Music Publishing as well as buzzed-about newcomer Saweetie, rapperFat Joe, Keisha Knight Pulliam, and others.

Ma recently joined the roster of Columbia Records and says she couldn’t be happier at her new label home. “I’ve been doing this since I was in high school and it’s a rough business,” she told Variety. “I’ve had recording contracts at major labels and I’ve also been independent before and I get to finally have the perks of a major with independence. The people at Columbia who work on my project care about it as much as I do — maybe even more.” The timing for a Ma moment couldn’t be better. With the release of a stunning new video for the track “Melanin Magic” and the momentum of female rappers like Cardi B, the pendulum may be swinging away from a genre overwhelmingly dominated by men. Said Ma: “A change has come. There’s always been a lot of female rappers that had talent. They just weren’t being promoted or taken seriously or given an opportunity. For so long, it’s been the same thing over and over and over.” The Bronx native, who recently served six years in prison, added that upon her release in 2014, she resolved to “open the door and not close it behind me.” Today, Ma encourages collaboration and friendship rather than feuds, which have tainted the genre and with which Ma has personal experience. Without naming names, Ma said: “There’s strength in numbers. So if I’m doing good, and this girl here is doing good, people will take it more seriously. … We all bring something different to the table, and once people realize that, stop fighting each other, work together and help build each other up, we’ll grow even more.”

February 24, 1996 - "Get Money" by Junior M.A.F.I.A. feat. Notorious BIG went to No.1 on the US Rap Singles for three weeks.

It is the third and final single released from the Junior M.A.F.I.A.'s debut album, Conspiracy. The original version, which heavily sampled Sylvia Striplin's "You Can't Turn Me Away", was produced by EZ Elpee with verses done by The Notorious B.I.G. and Lil' Kim.

The official remix entitled "Gettin' Money (The Get Money Remix)" was produced by DJ Enuff, Lance 'Un' Rivera and The Notorious B.I.G. This version used a different instrumental, sampling Dennis Edwards' 1984 track, "Don't Look Any Further" featuring new verses by Lil' Kim and B.I.G. as well as a verse from Lil' Cease. "Get Money" became the group's second biggest hit, peaking at 17 on the Billboard 100. It sold 500,000 copies domestically and was certified platinum by the RIAA. It ranked number 89 in Billboard's Top Hot 100 Hits of 1996.

The repeated line "Take Money" in the 2Pac song Hit 'Em Up is a play on "Get Money". This song, which also used the same Dennis Edwards sample as the Get Money remix, is a very violent diss track aimed at Biggie Smalls and other members of the Bad Boy record label.
