#Repost from @therealfelixmontana with @regram.app ... ► 25th anniversary of "Flip That Shit" (January, 1993)
1 • It was Sean Combs's idea. At that time he was an A&R manager at Uptown Records
2 • Puff Daddy made a phone call to Jay and invited him and his group ONYX at the studio "The Hit Factory". Probably it was on JMJ's birthday (January 21, 1993)
3 • The producer of this track (Jesse West a.k.a. 3rd Eye) was chosen by Puff Daddy
4 • ONYX never heard about Biggie Smalls to this day
5 • At the studio that day was photographer Fish, he took some pictures, but only one photo came into "The Source Magazine" #43 (April, 1993)
6 • The song was recorded special for the soundtrack for the upcoming movie "Who's The Man?"
7 • But unfortunately this track was released only on "Who's The Man" advance tape on audio cassette, one copy of which was sold on the eBay auction for $157,50 US on August 26, 2013
8 • DJ Chubby Chubb put this track on his new mixtape on March, 1993
9 • Billboard Magazine about this song on January 30, 1993: "an ensemble piece by Onyx, Big E. Smalls, and 3rd Eye"
10 • Biggie named Jesse West among other producers who will be on his debut album "Ready To Die" (interview at club Amazon - July 23, 1993)
11 • As of May 16, 1994, Christopher Wallace p/k/a B.I.G.'s contract with Andre Harrell & Uptown Records was terminated. B.I.G. followed Puffy from Uptown over to Bad Boy Records. The contract states that Biggie buys from the label Uptown the rights to some unreleased songs recorded in 1992 for the album "Ready To Die" (including "Machine Gun Funk", "Things Done Changed", "Ready To Die", "Gimme The Loot" , "Everyday Struggle", "Me & My Bitch", "Respect", "Friend Of Mine") - except for the tracks "Party and Bullshit" and "Flip That Shit" - for $326,092.91, which constitutes all the costs associated with those records
• Good memories for @fredro_starr, @iamstickyfingaz, @sonny_seeza, @chyskillz, @treachtribe, @unclevinrock, @kaygeenbn, @jesse_west3rdeye and @djchubbychub

I won't make you wade through a bunch of posts - here's the rest of the letters, @officialmfdoom ( I still haven't found my vik vaughan vinyl so I played it off cd), Jesse west(!), @jayzmrcarter with a salsa twist and @oldirtybastardwu live for my compilation track. Check the whole alphabet here:http://bit.ly/2C513KP
Released in November 1993, this album was quite overlooked, I don't think Top Quality got the push he needed on this album and because he didn't have anything to make him stand out vocally it got lost in the storm of 90's boom bap hip hop that we would praise if it was released today. He was a member of the Hit Squad for a short while during the EPMD breakup with PMD acting as executive producer the beats were handled by a number of producers without making it sound too disjointed. I've always liked Jesse West's stuff and he did the single 'What' which didnt exactly have an MTV friendly hook but my choice on this album is 'Caught up in the flizny'. #topquality #magnumopus #1993 #what #hitsquad #caughtintheflizny #jessewest
