View from the corner of the great pyramid of Bakong. Archaeologists have pondered over the pyramidal structure of Bakong, which later became the standard design of many of Angkor's state temples. The temple-mountain was a paradigm shift in Hindu temple architecture, which were very particular about design principles laid down in the Shilpashastra (principles on architecture written in Sanskrit). There are no pyramidal temples in India, from where the Khmers adapted Hindu temple architecture norms. Neither were they adapted by the Chams, the neighborhood Indianized kingdom practicing Hinduism. The only place in South East Asia where the pyramidal structure pre-dates Bakong is at Java under the Shailendra dynasty. So did the Khmers adapt the pyramid from the Javanese?

A mass of design and color inside the Palace makes this place a dream to photograph. Stunningly captivating Gyeongbokgung Palace Seoul. Architecturally striking, this once Royal Residence is one of Seoul’s most popular attractions. I really recommend a visit here. At weekends local people dress in the era from which this palace was active, but inside as well as out the detail in its design is amazing #architecture #design #architecturelover #palace #artanddesign #industrialdesign #asia #northasia #seoul #southkorea #travel #traveler #travelblogger #traveling #travelgram #blogger #businesstraveller #instatravel #instatraveling #instadaily #instaarchitecture #weekendvibes
