While turkey does contain the famed tryptophan, it’s not the only culprit to your post-dinner snooze. A heaping helping of #Thanksgiving classics like stuffing, potatoes and dessert may also be to blame for your #foodcoma. #EatSmartMonth

Have Hemp Hearts, will travel! ⠀

Just because I’m traveling doesn’t mean my healthy eating habits go out the window (🤨) but more importantly, I brought some @manitobaharvest #HempHearts along to share with my family. ⠀

Hemp hearts are delicious on salads, in smoothies, and on sandwiches. Have YOU tried Hemp Hearts yet?⠀

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, killing 289,758 women in 2013—that's about 1 in every 4 female deaths. Although heart disease is sometimes thought of as a “man's disease,” around the same number of women and men die each year of heart disease in the United States.

7 ingredients, 12 different meals!🍱😯

I know I only show four meals, but with these 7 main ingredients you can create enough meal combinations to last the whole week!

😤I've been there. I've had weeks where by Friday, I didn't want to think about another burrito bowl.

🤔Now? I've learned the trick to beating food boredom and not eating the same thing every day is creating your own meals and recipes by throwing together different veggies, even if you think they don't "go" together.

🤓✅My other "hack" is using a formula for every meal: protein + veggies + complex carb

👇🏼For example, this mealprep has:

🍗Two types of protein: grilled chicken & veggie meat balls

🥒Three types of veggies: zucchini, asparagus & beans

🥔complex carbs: red potatoes and spaghetti squash

🙏🏼Just those simple ingredients can give you 12 different meals.

What do you think?
Does thinking about building healthy meals help?

One of my favourite dishes and so simple!
Pork loin lightly stir fried with Garlic and Chillies in Oyster Sauce, then Bell Pepper, Onions, Broccoli, Cauliflower and Red and White cabbage added.
Healthy and Nutritious!

#FLOSS Your Teeth it Could Save Your Life! According to the American Academy of Periodontology, people with periodontal disease are almost twice as likely to have coronary artery disease (also called heart disease)💜. And one study found that the presence of common problems in the mouth, including gum disease (gingivitis), cavities, and missing teeth, were as good at predicting heart disease as cholesterol levels.

My 2 favourite oily fish to provide multiple health benefits. Omega 3 is soo good for your heart skin and brain. It is recommended to eat 2 servings of oily fish per week. It may reduce inflammation, decrease stroke and heart disease. Other non fish options that provide omega 3 include walnuts flax seeds and soybean. However the evidence of heart healthy benefits isn't as strong as the benefits from eating fish.
