New Tattoos and Laser Removal
Our client visited us after getting a cover up over an old green tattoo. She was not happy with the black centre feature, which is fair, because the old tattoo was very visible underneath it. She was, however stoked with the flowers, so she decided to keep them and fade back the middle. This would give her some really good options for a redesign which did not involve blacking out the whole area.
Problem was, the tattoo was freshly done when we first saw her. So the question is... How long should you wait before you have a new tattoo removed?
Some studies indicate up to 25% of people who get a tattoo immediately regret it. So what can you do about it? The obvious answer is to remove the tattoo. Nowadays removal is as easy as getting laser treatments. There, is however, some confusion about how long you should wait before you try laser tattoo removal treatments.
We recommend you wait at least 8 weeks, if possible 12 weeks before you have laser tattoo removal.
Firstly, and we know you might think this sounds silly, but your buyer’s remorse might not last. You may get used to the tattoo, even love it in 12 weeks. Remember this is a new addition to your body and sometimes it takes a little while to get used to.
However, if you don’t come to love your tattoo, you have given yourself the best possible chance of a risk free and efficient removal of your unwanted ink.
