When Crest Pharmacy pulled down its plastic sign after going out of business, things got interesting on Flatbush Avenue in Park Slope. It’s often that way. It’s the brief moment between the closing of a business and the opening of another that can reveal a trace of a long-forgotten occupant. From the looks of the old, painted sign for Peter’s Hair Fashions, this storefront once catered to 1970s and 1980s Brooklynites. That font is the dead giveaway. One can only imagine the feathering and perming of hair that went on here. After all, a night at the discotheque awaited! We’ll see what follows next at this address, but you can be sure that the return of Peter’s will be short-lived. #retrologist #ghostsign

Removal of former #oddfellows building in #westonwv revealled this wall art. (3 images)

Not quite a #ghostsign. Does this type of once-interior now-exterior painting have a name?

I no longer have to worry about capturing the consumption. This old #ghostsign was revealed after the building next door was demolished. #wearechicago #artofchi #chicagoshots #mychicagopix #chitoday #redeyechicago ##bestofchicago #igers_chicago #flippinchi #chicagotribune #anotherera

A fading #Ghostsign on S Wells. Looks like it was for Inner Seal. #chicago #ghostsignschicago
Lovely old metalwork sign on a bench @innertemplegarden. A quick Google search shows that Z.D Berry was in 1847 Zephaniah Deacon Berry, an ironmonger, and the Albion Works supplied gas lighting for many public buildings, including, for example, The Grand Theatre, Islington in 1883 (then trading as Z. D. Berry & Sons). I wonder what this sign was attached to before it found its latest home on a bench! #oldghostsign #ghostsign #londonhistory #thealbionworks #zdberry #metalwork #ironwork #ironmonger #ghostsignage
