It might not be easy, but it is pretty simple.

I was at the dentist the other day, and the lady cleaning my teeth compared taking care of your teeth to weight loss. As long as you put in the work, you’ll see results. If you brush and floss every day, you’ll have healthy teeth. If you burn more calories than you consume, you’ll lose weight.

Whatever your fitness goals, it is important to understand this simple fact. At the end of the day, if you’re in a calorie surplus, you’ll gain weight, if you’re in a calorie deficit, you’ll lose weight. Yes, other factors like genetics may play a part, but this will always prove true. And that’s not even taking into account how hard it is stay consistent and motivated.

So if you are just beginning your weight loss or fitness journey, remember this and don’t over-complicate things. Take one step at a time, and incorporate more complicated things like tracking macros once you have seen some progress.

Tonight’s dinner: Mixed greens salad with grilled chicken, brown rice and hummus with a homemade olive-oil, lemon, and garlic dressing.
