Nearing the end of February I reckon next month I could squat for the entire month straight. Hips feel amazing. Have been doing LOADS of mobility stuff and band work. Now just need to sort my shoulders out. Ain’t nothing to it but to do it. Ain’t nothing but a peanut. Have you been squatting? DK Success with Ollie. Ollie came to see Dave the physio guy with a cast of old injuries but namely a nagging patella pain exacerbated when doing things he loves. Reassurance and education from Dave regarding training loads, Dry needling, movement patterning and lumbopelvic mechanics has Ollie back on the right track to a full recovery.

Anterior knee pain, without injury, is often caused by tight hamstrings. Though these muscles are on the back of your thigh, they wrap around the back of your knee and attach on the the front (near Dr. Larson’s fingers on this first picture). If they’re tight, you have a more difficult time extending your knee. Think of it like a parking break. You can get where you need to but you’re going to wear something out in the process. So how do you mobilize your hamstrings? The second pic demonstrates a bend and reach. People typically associate this with a hamstring stretch but it actually mostly stretches the low back. The third picture shows an effective way to stretch your hamstrings. Keep one leg planted on the floor and the other elevated - depending on your mobility. Lean forward slightly until you feel a little uncomfortable but no pain. Hold this stretch for 30 seconds to a minute and repeat on each leg 3 times. If you’re super tight, try to fit this stretch in a few times a day to stay limber!
