Some people fear what lies under the surface but in reality nothing there wants to hurt you unlike the world we have built that we call civilisation. In the ocean you are simply entering the wild, a place where the rules are simple and you are totally safe as long as you respect them. #respect #sandyfeet #apexpredatornotmonster

“The blue waters of Havasupai and adventurous souls who travel there completely changed my life. The first time I made the trek into the canyon I went with 50 other people. I had always hiked in the mountains around Phoenix, but this was my first time backpacking. I was in complete awe the entire trip. There were two brothers on the trip who had set their passion and intention to be adventurers long before the thought had crossed my mind. They had captained boats, hiked through countless national parks, and lived as nomads. In that moment, I knew that I wanted to be like them. I wanted to see the places they had been, climb the mountains they had climbed, and live a life of adventure. It’s been just over three years since that trip and I did exactly what I said I would. I love the outdoors because at the core of my being I feel the soul of the earth inside of me. Nature gives me a sense of peace, humbleness, and connection to something larger than myself. Nature is my religion, because it is where I feel the most at home. I love the feeling of pushing my body to new limits and conquering a mountain I once never dreamt possible. I have built my life and career around being outside, where I can be fully present, in tune with this universe, and completely alive. I am a Mountain Chick and this is my story of how I found and live my life by my passion for the outdoors.” - @lacey_____jo telling us her @MtnChicks story.

I know some of you are still in the midst of snow and winter ☃️ Just taking a moment to take it all in and appreciate all the sunshine in sunny California ☀️. As some of you might know, I’ve just returned from a 3 month trip around the world, and have been working hard to create a life I don’t want to escape from. Given recent events regarding an unnecessary exchange between a Youtuber and a hotel publicized, which I believe to be a total publicity stunt, there’s been a lot of controversy going around with a shocking number of people not realizing the value of influencers or bloggers, and the work that is put in to write a blog post, or even curating photographs. I feel the need to speak out about this, and highlighting that even if it’s not a traditional 9-5, many don’t understand how much effort is put in to blogging, social marketing, and capturing the right types of photographs, and they take this for granted, most expecting this done without compensation. If done correctly, I believe that a company has much more to gain with paying influencers for their work, than paying for traditional ads. While this line of work is still the Wild West, and nothing has yet been defined, quality writers, bloggers, editors, photographers, artists, and video makers, etc., are what drives the market, and influences the audience, hence the influencer title, as untapped as the potentials are. People are always asking for recommendations, because of the power of word of mouth, and that extends to quality bloggers and Youtubers alike. Just my 2 cents. There seems to be a divide on this topic with those not in the creative line of work. What do you all think? ——Also enjoying my favorite travel tote bag that acts like a portable safe by @loctote.
