Sunday night motivation for the week ahead 💫💫

End of a seven day work week, had some great training sessions, but my nutrition was not good #waytoomanytreats 🙈

So this week the aim is to get the good sessions AND some balanced nutrition 😇

Have a bit of food prep for the next few days so that might help 🙌

Today's post workout meal was😍shredded slow cooked chicken with fried riced cauliflower, broccolini, zucchini, spring onion & garlic with a wedge of honey roasted pumpkin.

🔥 Personal Training Results 🔥

Amazing transformation from our Pt client Shane.

In only 6 weeks we have drastically improved his body composition by shedding fat from his waist while adding some muscle to his shoulder/chest area.

Shane came to us with a time sensitive goal. He is due to play Jesus in a pantomime and wanted to feel comfortable on stage.😎 His program in the gym was weights focused (2 sessions a week) and then he done some cardio in his own time.

Nutritionally we simply focused on improving the quality of his food by removing the processed crap and fuelling his sessions in the gym rather than starving himself.His biggest complaint was fitting all the food in😂

Really pleased with his results in such a short time. ==========================

Hunger cravings. We all struggle with them and in a caloric deficit you can be sure there will be times when cravings come on strong and the urge to binge is unbearable. What do you do then? Give in and undo days and possibly even weeks or progress? ———————————————————————-
When you’re dieting,cortisol levels slowly rise while leptin levels drop. What this does is it causes your body to go into a kind of “I’m absolutely starving I must have food” Carbs boost leptin levels the most which is why we crave carbs most of the time in a deficit. I don’t do the low carb thing at all so I’m generally fine with hunger cravings but they still do come on every now and then. ———————————————————
How do I beat these cravings? I have a few strategies. My first go to is 0 cal fizzy drinks. They work for me. Google the satiety index and try adding more foods from the higher end into your diet. Potatoes and oats specifically are highly satisfying along with oranges and apples specifically. Keeping occupied tends to help,I don’t know about you but when I’ve got nothing to do my mind drifts to food.
Try adding more volume to your diet as well in the form of fibrous vegetables like broccoli,cauliflower and spinach. You can’t go wrong with vegetables. ———————————————————
The bottom line to cravings is this. Some hunger is normal in a caloric deficit and to get to your goals you have to become comfortable with a little hunger. Willpower counts for a lot as well. It’s completely fine to have a bit more calories say 300-500 over maintenance for a day. Who doesn’t love a good feed on a Sunday eh? I really fancied a Chinese take away but my better self took hold once I realised I’d all the ingredients for this Sweet & Sticky Pulled Pork recipe. I’ve been working on this one for a few weeks now and I’m close to perfecting it. Today's training was a blast🔥Pilates seriously is a life changer🙏🏾! Not only does it help me strengthen the core and some other muscles together with stretching some tricky areas, but.. most importantly, it helped me develop greater awareness of my body, my posture, my gate, my tension and ease patterns - through feeling certain parts of my body separately, on their own. I am infinitely grateful ❤️

Pike Pulses - a great core/abs drill that is far more challenging than it looks💯. 💪Limit the tilting of the upper body and remain tall through the chest and head as you "pulse" the legs up and down. Aim to keep the knees straight during the work sets. 🔥Start slow here and don't expect high repetitions early on. Expect some muscle soreness in the lower abs, possibly into the hip flexors. ➡️3/4 Sets Max Repetitions

What a morning! As well as being our first Sunday session ☀️ it was also our last class with @irish_yoga_girl Laura 😭😭😭 Laura has been an integral part of the F45 family from the beginning and we are absolutely gutted to see her go. We are so grateful to have had her on the team. She'll be missed by us all! We wish her all the very best for the future. We love you Laura 😘😘😘

Fuelling up before today’s long (22km) run! I often struggle with when/how much to eat before I work out, and long runs especially can leave my tummy feeling quite sad. Through a LOT of trial and error, I’ve found that what works best for me is if I have a small meal or granola bar in the am (especially if I’m not heading out super early) and that running after lunch is almost always a terrible idea. Let me know what works for you!! -A
