Inspired by my mousey wake up call last week 😼 I thought I would complete this harvest mouse piece, as usual he needs a name, any suggestions? I’m off galavanting for the next few days so my Etsy shop will be closed, but I will be using this time to draw up some new pieces, have a lovely weekend! xFKx

I have recently started making a new collection of embroidery brooches* - more details to follow.... Meanwhile, I have packages to send today, thank you and so very much appreciated..... *Last year, getting back into stitching, I focused on miniature pieces but no brooches. As I have had requests and I enjoy making them... I hope to make a pleasing new collection. #cathycullis #embroidery #freemotion #drawingwiththread #brooch

How do I bury all of the threads that I have with thread painting. I can’t thread or use a cheater needle for time reasons so.... 1. Thread a needle with both cut ends thru the eye which leaves a loop 2. Pull your burying threads thru the hoop 3. Slide your needle into the top fabric and some of your @hobbsbatting lol, my favorite, and pull. Like snip close to where it came out😍😍😍😍 oh, i knot my threads to bury together first for security. I forgot to mention that. This is so fast when you have tons to bury,at each step of fmqing #buryingthreads #hobbsbatting #threadpainting #drawingwiththread #sewingneedles #johnjamesneedles #wonderfilspecialtythreads

Wow! This is one of my first landscapes and the first one that I sold. It was an Edmonton Needlecraft Guild group show and I was so stunned that I sold it. I remember that at the show opening I was carrying around my first baby, who was 9 months old and she is now 25. I will be forever grateful to Kathy who bought this artwork and gave me the confidence to continue making art. All my collectors have my extreme gratitude.

Each art sale gives artists the confidence, encouragement and, yes, finances, to continue to develop and make beautiful art. 🙏❤️🙏

I'm gonna need a lot of yellow and blue thread for this week's work in progress. 😉

Feeling deeply grateful to the kind folk who have signed on to support my work through the School of Nomad Arts.
Unlike many of my fellow makers I don’t seem to have the marketing skills to sell my work, nor do I have a life partner to whom I might turn when times get tough, so I live from one workshop to the next.
The alternative might be waitressing but at my venerable age (and with my “interesting” personality) I don’t think I’d get very far.
So it’s wonderful to be able to share skills in this whirled-wide teaching space, where already participants are blowing in on so many different winds.
It’s going to be really interesting to discuss the differing dye outcomes according to season and locality, as folks share their results.
And I’m looking forward to seeing the thread-trails left by all the hands, each influenced by a lifetime of stories.
Today I’ve been filming the construction of a secret pocket...and playing with some of the lovely threads I’ve been dyeing.
Thank you for helping me walk this road. .

Finally finished this pair of trouble makers, now to chose a size to mount them 🤔 I find this the trickiest bit, it seems so final, like a goodbye and I do tend to get far too attached to each piece xFKx .

I'm really happy with this thread sketch. I love the wires draped across the view of the building. I love to look at buildings in imagine all the different lives and experiences that happened behind each window. Each room holds different stories and different energy. #humanspaces #livesinabox #gatheringplaces #downtownyxe #threadart #minimalpalette #architecture #urbansketch #sewingmachine #embroideryart #monikakinnerwhalen
