Okay. I am alive. I took a week off and now I am back training with new legs. Hooray. I felt like this tonight. Flying. Anyway, tonight’s goal was to test myself out on the trainer with 5 minute intervals. I kept it between 400-500 watts without getting too stressed out about things. For the most part anyway. 434, 469, 426, 416, 421.
Which I think is a good thing, but also a problem. None of the intervals ended in complete muscle failure or anything remarkable, but in that second interval I really started pushing and for a moment I visited a place I don’t think I have really visited before. I started smelling blood and my perspective of the effort changed a bit to where it sort of felt like an out-of-body experience. I really don’t know how to describe it. My heart was pumping for sure, but felt stable. I wanted to throw up, but that wasn’t happening if I had anything to do with it. My legs burned, but it was fine. It was the smelling/tasting blood and weird mental state that scared me a bit and made me say “wait a sec. what the hell was that.” Then I confidently pressed out the rest of the workout with no issues.
I always try to keep calm during racing/workouts, but tonight made me feel guilty like maybe I just haven’t been trying too hard and maybe I don’t really know how fast I can go. Maybe I need to learn how to actually suffer. Maybe I need to just pedal until I throw up. I have no idea. I think maybe I will find a sports psychologist and explore the mental side of things a bit more. If I can go to that place, whatever that was, again and just send it I could probably time trial my legs into oblivion. Or just be hard to drop. Both could be good things I reckon.
Anyway, apart from that minor confusion, the training is going great! I’m pretty pumped to start building again over the next few weeks. If I discover any neat psychology things in the near future I will put them here. Until then it is back to riding and training documenting it here. Happy holidays, everyone.

We seriously have the coolest Area Manager ever... she took the Top Performers of Directv sales for 3rd Quarter in the region out to lunch and the coolest part, instead of just ordering in the trophies she went out of her way to make them by hand... and damn do they look good, but what a way to show appreciation! Also, on op of that she got our Director of Sales to come down and meet us.. crazy cool!! Live this company and the amazing people who work for it @teamelite_pnw :

Brown butter scallops and risotto with roasted pumpkin. Not really the best picture but I'm super pumped because this was the first time I ever made risotto annnnnd I finally overcame my texture aversion to scallops! And yes there is butter but everything in moderation. This plate 326 calories. 👊💪

Blessings!! So January 1st, i will officially start cutting weight.. my goal is 180lbs. I am currently at 192.. My program will be plant based. All exercises focused on hypertrophy.
