🍗Let's talk about protein, shall we? More specifically, whether you ought to be eating only whole food sources of protein or protein shakes especially if fat loss is your goal.

🤔Lots of people believe whole foods to be superior to shakes. Others think shakes are the holy grail. Well, I'm not good at keeping secrets so here's the deal....whole foods and shakes can 100% be effective for losing fat in a healthy sustainable way.

🔑The real difference is which ones you prefer and also what will allow you to hit your calorie targets and be consistent.

✅My recommendation? I like using a combination of whole foods and shakes. I prefer to eat most of my food, especially during fat loss phases when calories are decreasing. But, that's not to say that shakes aren't also effective. Shakes are convenient and don't take time to prep so they can be useful for those constantly on the go. -
👌What matter's most is keeping a consistent calorie deficit. It could be via whole foods only or a combination of the two, using shakes during times when you're busy, and whole foods when you have the ability to eat a meal.

💪You can also use shakes to replace a meal that would otherwise set you over your calorie targets. By doing do, you get a good dose of protein and can save hundreds of calories to help keep you on track.

The #legwork #saturdaymorning was fairly brutal.
I spent 2 hrs plus on my #calves #thickthighs #quads #hamstringstretch #workinghard in my #dietplan #diet will be on form for the next year.
2018 promises to be #challenging in all ways.

Selfie comparisons & what they mean. I find it interesting that these images belong to the same person. My plain Jane today Sunday selfie is stress-free from fitness competition; but not the caliber of the makeup done by Encore Spa Las Vegas (3rd pic) & also posted today. The glamour selfie posted earlier today was 5 months out from AFX. The face is perfect but I couldn’t see my abs on that one yet.

I’m getting used to today’s gaunt face, bc it tells me I can still see my abs. I don’t mind as long as the skin settles & it’s looking like that; no stress wrinkles, hallelujah! For normal people, this gaunt face looks like I’m sick. At least, gym mates don’t ask me anymore if I’m okay, & that’s a good sign, lol! 🤣 Instead, they ask me if I’m competing in April 2018. So gaunt face now equates to fitness competitor. Ahhh okay, I’m going to address this in another post.

On the 2nd pic, I was getting sick on the Nov 18, 2017 Midnight Sun event. I’ve not carbed that morning & my face was already puffy. I was overwhelmed & the stress from contest prep caught up with me. My blood pressure went down & I was feeling body aches all day. However, normal people looked at me and said: ‘Wow! You look great, face looks better, it’s fuller!’

Ah, really & truly, it’s the other way around; I didn’t feel good. Hopefully, I won’t catch the flu before evening show is over, I really tried to fight it. After Midnight Sun fitness event, I caught up on sleep right after work daily up through Wednesday. I didn’t do all-you-can-eat until Thanksgiving Day. .
