I want to thank @unseenflirtations for summarising something essential for me in this quote - to summarise #grime in such a way felt so accurate to me. The paradox of threat and celebration, the harsh becoming beautiful, rage being art... this felt accurate and right and actually I think is why grime has been such a key to success for me - I take what’s difficult, the debris as it were and have learned to make things from it.
Big up #holdtight really interesting read.

A piece about all the fights aka BEEF I saw at school. In a way each poem is about the beef inside of me and that I see around me... Ppl always ask me - what do you like writing about? That’s a mad hard question, maybe even an irrelevant question - for me the relevant question is, Why do you write? Often I am this social carrier pigeon, living between different worlds - the academic grime MC, the post-Mormon bashment dancer, the racially ambiguous white Italian Jewish girl, the pansexual virgin.... I often finding myself jumping identities, worlds, realms and in poetry I found a space to connect the disparate, to empathise with people that previously get incomprehensible and a space where my strange narrative could build its own definitions of things like normality and success.
This is a piece inspired by #toofar by #dizzeerascal from #bidc with #chieduoraka beat by @yazzuss full tune soon to be aired on @bbcradio4 #theverb for @applesandsnakes #35thbday

Past month or so I’ve been feeling quiet reluctant to write. I’m a strong believe in not HAVING to write every day but actually knowing I CAN and I have the capacity for that discipline and I was starting to feel like that was slipping away. It’s so easy for everything to become an excuse - I’m too tired, I’m not in the mood, pen isn’t working, too busy, computer is busy etc. Etc. So I turned to my key tools for creation: MY TIMER, set it and decided any conceivable excuse would become a tool to create - use the tiredness to generate a new tone of content/ no pen record onto your phone for once / too much work then write on the commute or on the toilet!
We are not all this same. This might not work for you, but through trail an error - learn how u learn and commit to that process and your good for life right?

(Looks like Steptoe and Son have moved next door.) I’m going to ask the developer to buy me the best noise cancelling headphones available. He should distribute them to everyone in the neighbourhood. I’M GONNA MAKE HIM AN OFFER HE CAN’T REFUSE. #fuck #destruction #debris #excavation #construction #noise #hell #ihatenoise #development #insanity #jonesroad #site #steptoeandson #brisbane #queensland #australia #november #november22 #2017

@waste2wear has some disturbing news on plastic. "Soon there may no longer be an ecosystem without the presence of plastics" Dr. Alan Jamieson

DID YOU KNOW: FEMA gave New Orleans a 12 year plan to return to normal after Hurricane Katrina, FEMA gave Houston a 15 year plan to return to normal after Hurricane Harvey

Just because the news doesn’t report the devastation, doesn’t make it less real. People are hurting, feeling forgotten and abandoned

If you’ve thought about helping, come to Houston, there is much to be done to help our fellow Americans
