Well today I weighed in at my lightest weight in years, 266lbs! Down from 284lbs this summer and down from 310lbs just a couple years ago!! This is the strongest I’ve ever been too! I have a long way to go still but I’m feeling great and happy with the progress I’ve been able to make so far!!! 💪💪🤙🤙

⚽🏋Did you ever wonder whether you should squat heavy while you are also engaged in sports like soccer, which are already very lower body focused?
__
✒Now obviously the answer depends heavily on your goals. Are you aiming for performance? Muscle size? Strength?
Here we are looking into how often you should/can train to improve performance on the field. 
__
🔬Well, the answer might surprise you. This latest research by Paz-Franco et al. (2017) looked at
professional futsal athletes.
__
⚽These guys already spend 13 hours on their sports-specific training regime with one official match per week. On top of that, the authors had them do three different lower-body resistance training frequencies for 6 weeks during their competitive futsal season.
__
📈Results showed that training the lower body 2 times per week increased jump and sprint performance compared to a lower body workout once every 2 weeks!
__
📊Now keep in mind that the three frequencies in this were not volume equated, meaning the highest training frequency group also performed the most amount of weekly resistance training volume. 
__
😃Before glorifying higher training frequencies over lower frequencies, keep your training status in mind. If you are a complete beginner, err on the side of lower training frequencies. 
__
⚽The more developed your muscles are, the more you can generally train them. The message here: Don’t be afraid to do resistance training for your legs just because you are also engaged in other sports.
