This is one of the coolest insects that Florida has it's called a love bug when one of them finds a mate they attach to each other and become one and fly together as one. #lovebug #florida #insect #coolestthingiveeverseen

You can't tell from this photo but it was taken during totality! Well worth the hours of driving and leaving at midnight just to get a spot in the direct path of the eclipse! #travel #adventures #Eclipse2017 #Eclipse #Glendo #glendowyoming #wyomingeclipse #coolestthingiveeverseen #selfie #newfriends #dembeards #halfginger #iforgotwhatfilteriused

Starting an hour before totality, the moon slowly consumed the surface of the sun. It began to get much cooler, by probably 20 degrees and slight breezes formed as a result of dramatic temperature change. As totality approached it quickly felt like dusk and you could see a dramatic difference in light between our location and the horizon which was south of the totality zone. The wildfire smoke on the horizon remained lit by the sun in an amazing contrast of oranges compared to the dark blue of the sky above us. Totality approached very suddenly and the sky quickly turned to night. Crickets began chirping in the grass. As the blinding light of the sun disappeared on the bottom edge you could view the shape of the entire moon and see the glowing halo of the covered sun with the naked eye. The last remaining pinpoint of uncovered sun turned into a sharp spotlight of light bursting into a diamond ring effect. The sun disappeared completely. The moon obscured all of the sun's light except for the glowing corona surrounding the perimeter. The movement of the moon across the sun appeared to stop and allow the glowing eclipse ring to hover above us for a moment. It was as if it were pausing to allow us to get a good look and to show off it's beauty. Time stopped just long enough for us to lose our breath and only long enough for us to realize how rare of an event this was. Time started again, and then as quickly as it came, the process reversed order. The ring of light grew brighter at the top with concentrated beads of light appearing around the outer surface of the moons crust. The diamond ring burst out from behind the moon. The light grew stronger to where you could not use your naked eye directly, and then the shape of the moon disappeared from view. The ground around us was once again lit up with daylight and the sky began to return as well. In the minute after totality, the ground was covered in flickering shadows like slithering smoke snakes. On the horizon, the shadow of the moon swept across the landscape and disappeared towards the east. It was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced.

I did not take these pictures! First photo @dileeprevan, second photo @itsreuben. I wanted to share these because they come closest to capturing what the eclipse actually looks like. What no photo will ever show is the dynamic nature of the eclipse - like trying to photograph moving water. When you see it with your own eyes, it's alive. What really took my breath away was how silent it was. In movies, when you see something in space, it's accompanied by a deep bass thrum that makes you feel the enormity of it. This was absolutely silent, which only added to the spookiness of the experience. You have to see it to understand! #2017eclipse #natureisamazing #coolestthingiveeverseen @cellophane_star @bradwoo10 @fokken_laaney @griffy_the_crusher

I was lucky enough to find myself in the path of totality on Monday with my friend @bigplanet_smallworld . My favorite part of the eclipse was the moment the moon began to move away and the sunlight began to pour in from the side. They call it a diamond ring. I found myself so captivated I could barely pull my eyes away. I think it's just more proof that no matter how dark things get there is always a moment when they will shift again toward the light. When that light comes poring back into the darkness it's something more beautiful than we could ever have noticed without the darkness. So... no matter what darkness you might find yourself in just keep the faith that the diamond ring will show up and rock your world! (Pun intended. 😉🤓) Totality photo by @bigplanet_smallworld .

What a dance. I highly recommend you stick around for the next great American eclipse... or catch Chile in 2020 if living another 99 years isn't an option. #oregoneclipsefeatival #sunandmoontemple #piscesvesica #coolestthingiveeverseen

Eclipse beer, eclipse friend, 360 degree sunset video that doesn't even come close to doing it justice. Worth the six hour drive back to the city. #beer #bugs #battlestargalactica #whatplanetamion #coolestthingiveeverseen #idontcareifyouresickofeclipseposts
