@google Project Loon is a project to provide internet to the most remote areas of the world using balloons at an altitude of 18km providing a secure 4G signal. I think this is amazing because without internet, it makes modern study, network, shopping ... the list is endless. Really commend companies like Google and Facebook not just for looking at the "profitable areas" of the world 🌐🗺🌐🗺 #projectloon #balloon #internet #google #googlex #weatgerballoon #facebook #internetforall #modernsociey #connecttheworld #mechanicalengineering #softwareengineering #programming #education #engineering_memes #engineeringlovers #engineeringblog #engineer #engineering #engineeringbasics #engineeringmemes #engineeringstudents #technology #innovation #engineeringlife

Sport and culture was celebrated through the first Egyptian women's beach volleyball team at the Rio Summer Games in 2016. As a pair of volleyball players were able to participate in wearing an uncommon uniform. The pair Doaa Elghobashy and Nada Meawad competed wearing long sleeves long pants and Elghobashy sporting a Hijab (which was given permission last minute). She quotes in regards to wearing the Hijab, “I have worn the hijab for 10 years. It doesn't keep me away from the things I love to do, and beach volleyball is one of them.” This way the Egyptians were able to compete while still upholding there Islamic culture of modesty by not insulting their faith. Their uniform do not match their competitors who traditionally are associated with the bikini style. The second picture gives a visual culture shock between the two nations, Egypt and Germany. The uniform diversity had followed a change in regulations towards the games because they should be more culturally sensitive. As being more diverse and recognizing different cultures improves the Olympics through including more nations. Changing the traditional uniform ideals enables teams that would not feel comfortable in uniform, or disobeying their culture a chance at playing their sport on a world wide elite level. Being more sensitive and more inclusive allowed the Olympics to include more athletes from different cultures, ethnicities and countries, overall connecting society through sport. 🇮🇶🏆🏅🏐🧕🏾🧕🏾 #connecttheworld #egypt #olympics #uniform #volleyball #change #beachvolleyball #equality #unit

Canada's late “Queen of Curling” Sandra Schmirler was a 3x World Curling Champion and Olympic Gold medalist. She was an extraordinary curler and her legacy still lives on. Her Olympic career started in 1998 Nagano Japan at the Winter Games. The team was able to capture the gold, facing setbacks against Great Britain where Schmirler's precise shot edged their opponents out. The first Canadian Curling gold medalists consisted of Schmirler as the skip, and her three other teammates Jan Betker, Joan McCusker, Marcia Gudereit. Their friendship was nicknamed the “Marriage of four.” As the team knew everything about each other and had gone through battles on and off the ice together. Their closeness and ability to relax with friends in a serious, stressful, and pressured moment played a major part in the teams success. Upon their arrival back to Saskatewan they were welcomed back as champions, which sparked the teams aspirations for another gold medal in another four years. Schmirler had a plan-play hard, have a family year, get back and qualify for the next trials. In the family year the four were due at the same time. As the four were pregnant, Schmier asked if anyone else was experiencing pain in their chest, loss of appetite and heartburn. As they are all symptoms of pregnancy it was not looked further into. However, once she had her child in June the pain did not go away. She was diagnosed in August with esophageal cancer and died March 2, 2000. It sent a wave of sadness through Canada-which ended up connecting the nation closer by creating the Sandra Schmirler Foundation. Millions of dollars are raised in equipping hospitals with advanced neonatal intensive care unit machines to save the “born too soon, too small and too sick babies” so everyone can have the chance in becoming a Champion like Schmirler. In memory of superstar Schmirler, the world is connected when Canadians donate money to help the children in need get what they need. #curling #olympics #connecttheworld #inspire #sandraschmitler #crowdsweeps #sweep #skip #house #canada #gold 🌎🌏🇨🇦🏅🏆🥌🥌

One of my fascinations. Can you imagine how bridges are built? To have a bridge stand, its more than mind and skills, it is also blood and sweat. Salute to all lives perished just for a bridge to stand, to provide passage over the obstacle. Verrazano Bridge, double decked suspension bridge that connects staten island and brooklyn, amazing masterpiece!________________________________________________________________

A professional Tennis Player Billie Jean King competed in the seventies. She is an major icon of sport equality with her dedication on limiting the wage gap. She used sport as a way to unite society and gain equality. Her movement began in 1972 where she won the US Open and earned $15 000 less than male champion. Along with her commitment to advocate for equal rights she had to keep up her success as it was her only way as leverage to demande change. King formed the Women's Tennis Association originally called “The Original 9,” which was backed by eight other tennis players. Their promotion led to triumph as in 1973 the US Open was the first major tournament which offered equal prize money. However, later that year, former top professional tennis player Bobby Riggs claimed that women should not receive the same amount because their game was “inferior” to mens and bragged that he could beat the 29 year old. The 55 year old challenged Billie Jean, and her acceptance led to the Battle of the Sexes. The match resulted in the empowerment of women worldwide as Billie Jean won 6-4, 6-3 and 6-3 over Riggs. It was a global phenomena that 90 million viewers expiranced. A Journalist from Sports Illustrated wrote, “She has made a whole sport boom because of the singular force of her presence.” Involving girls and women in sports improves society as it is a step closer in reaching equality, as it is important to connect everyone when connecting the world through sport. 🏆🎾🎾🏆#billiejeanking #sports #connecttheworld #tennis #equality #battleofthesexes #bobbyriggs #wagegap #girlsinsport #empowerment #determination #quotes #USOpen

The Olympics began including everyone and becoming more diversified in the 1960 in Rome Italy. This was the beginning of the inclusion of paralthetes. Before, society viewed disabled athletes as ill, and there was negative views in which influenced the way society interacted with them. However, at the time - and currently there has been a push in social involvement rather than their medical complication. Athletes with disabilities are found to be less restricted by their own setbacks then the barriers put up by society. “Fast-forward” to present day, these are the people admired by society for overcoming adversity. This positive change has also changed the way the the athletes perform. As they are able to access more resources - or equivalent to the standard olympian. They are able to compete with athletes without disabilities. An interesting example can be seen in the 2016 Rio Games 1500m Race. The top four competitors in the T-12 visually impaired race all beat times of the top able bodied winner. As the first place, Abdellatif Baka of Algeria ran the race in 3.48.29 while American Matthew Centrowitz ran it in 3.50.00. The goal of these athletes is to enhance societal change in highlighting the inequalities they must endure to ensure the highest level of sport accessible to everyone. #connecttheworld #sports #olympics #paralympics #diversity #involve #teamwork #baka #zanardi #stuzman #holt #cycling #archery #sprint 🌏🌎🏃🏼‍♀️🏆🏅🚵🏼‍♂️🏹🏃🏼‍♂️

We are all human beings. The difference are our values that we have accepted to be true and how those values shape what we see.
Question where those values come from and how do they compare now understanding that we in essence are the same, human.

An section in the Olympics that is able to inform the rest of the world about the host country is the Mascots. Olympic mascots are fictional characters usually an animal native to the area or human figure that represent the cultural heritage of the host location. An example of this is through the 2008 Summer Olympic in Beijing, where China had five mascots each symbolizing important aspects of sport and their country's heritage. The doll named Beibei is a fish which represents water, it gives the wish of prosperity, and has waves on her head based on a traditional Chinese painting. The next doll is named, Jingjing. He is a panda which represents the forest, his wish is happiness, and there are lotus flowers on his head on his head inspired from the porcelain painting from the song Dynasty. The third doll is named Yingying who is a Tibetan antelope that represents the earth and sends good health, it also uses decor elements from Western China as a headpiece. Nini is a swallow who represents the sky and sends good luck. Her design is based Chinese kites. The last mascot is named Huanhuan, who exemplifies fire and olympic spirit which signifies the passion if sport. The pattern on the head was influenced by a local design which means good luck. Together the five dolls showcase the Host Country’s - Chinas values. The names are also a way to see Chinese culture, as the first syllable of each name forms a sentence translating to “Welcome to Beijing.” A countries language is a big part of their culture, thus the world can become more educated about more countries. Having mascots who display the country's heritage and tradition in a global event inform spectators internationally. The design process for the dolls takes a long time because of all the attributes they want their country to portray through all of the eyes of the word. Therefore the observers are able to acknowledge the Chinese significance towards the traditional paintings, music, art and the key attributes in sport. “It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize and accept and celebrate those differences.” - Audre Lorde #olympics #connecttheworld #sport #china #mascots 🇨🇳🏆

YOUR Track to Wellness ~ Do YOU eat one apple every day?❣? ❥➥❥ An apple a day keeps the Doctor away
Experts in the United Kingdom (UK) estimate that if everyone over the age of 50 simply ate one apple each day, this act alone would prevent about 8,500 vascular-related deaths each year. Previous studies estimate that prescribing statin drugs to all adults over 50 years old could prevent a similar amount of #vascular-related deaths annually BUT the mass prescription of statins could also result in an extra 10,000 diagnoses of #diabetes and an extra thousand cases of #muscle disease. The study did not note any potential negative effects from mass Apple consumption ~ British Medical Journal, December 2013 ❥ via Oasis Advanced Wellness
