Today @junbugc, @andre_the_tiny and I went to all the places and ate all the things one craves in SF. As a bonus we ran into another old friend and coworker from @tartinebakery. A truly magical day! #thebaybridge #theembarcadero #pier24 #theferrybuilding #andrethetiny #dandelionchocolate #cupidsspan #claesoldenburg #tartinebakery #tartinebread

So there is some wit in Washington. Phew. A permanent eraser. But of the sort that no longer works for anything at all. And is erasure really possible? Isn’t there always a trace of the mistake that was rubbed out? Here’s hoping yes. #claesoldenburg #iusedtothinkhisstufflookedsoshockinglycontemporary #nowarelicofabygoneera #sad (had to put that now that daily I’m so near the home of our leader) #ironic

@thenohostar #interiordesign & #art was curated and created by #legendary #artist #KikiKogelnik. Kiki favored the body as her primary subject. She rendered the human figure in paintings, life-size vinyl and paper cut-outs (created by tracing the bodies of her models), prints, and drawings.
Born in 1935 in Bleiburg, a small town in southern Austria, Kogelnik studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
After relocating to New York City in 1961, she became part of a group of artists who led the Pop art movement, including #RoyLichtenstein, #ClaesOldenburg, #AndyWarhol, #TomWesselmann, #RobertRauschenberg, and #JasperJohns. Kogelnik developed her figurative style in New York, but her work differed from that of many Pop #artists because she did not draw directly from commercial products for content or style. Instead, she adapted advertising’s bold shapes and color planes. She did, however, fully embrace the #theatricality of the Pop milieu and dressed in #flamboyant attire.
Kogelnik was fascinated by the #technological, material, and consumer-centered culture of #NewYork and the U.S. in general. Kogelnik was particularly interested in flight and space exploration. In 1969, she presented her interactive “Moonhappening Apollo 11” at a gallery in #Vienna. From 1994 until her death in 1997, she also created expressive #glass #sculptures of abstracted faces. Kogelnik died, in 1997 in #Vienna. Kogelnik remains one of Austria’s most revered modern artists. #podcast #misterwelfare #history #itunes #soundcloud #googleplay | #simonesubalgallery #kikikogelnikfoundation #nohostar

“Socket To Me Baby” Three-Way Plug (Cube Tap) by Claes Oldenburg. The three-way electrical plug first appeared in Oldenburg's work in 1965, in a charcoal drawing that made this familiar household object look like a dripping popsicle. Oldenburg constructed a large three-dimensional cardboard plug in the same year and soon began further material exploration with versions in bronze, steel, canvas, and mahogany. In 1970, Oldenburg’s plug achieved monumental stature in this Cor-Ten steel and bronze version from an edition of three. Its magnified scale lends the original model for the three-way plug, a standard American design made of Bakelite, a formal affinity with architecture. #cortensteel #bronze #contemporaryart #sculpture #claesoldenburg #oversized #enlarged #bigger #plugs #plugmein #threewayplug #sockettome
